…and a guy who restores Challengers would probably think you’re a huge fag for driving a Neon. There’s nothing wrong with improving ANY kind of car, as long as the improvements are tasteful. Add power, a good suspension, better brakes, to ANY car, and it’s a good thing. Just as if you put a fiberglass body kit on ANY street driven car, you’re an asshole. But that’s just my $.02

well put…u can find alot of cars that have alot more performance than ur elantra for less than your car costs…but when in college:

Hallo Übermensch, wach auf! I am a college kid, and I haven’t spent money on my Neon for almost 2 years now, so I’m speaking from experience. I hate seeing people dump every penny they have into a car to make it go only slightly faster, only to blow it up and then have no money to fix it. I’ve had a few friends do that and they still haven’t learned their lesson.

again, different strokes for different folks. i’ve had V8s, a turbo’d four-banger convertible, and a million hondas, and the most fun car i ever had was an 82hp Mazda 323. That 323 was slower than molasses, but it had Corksport strut and sway bars, Eibach Pro-Kit springs, Tokico HP(?) shocks, and Hella fog and driving lamps. The parts were definitely worth more than the car, but on windy roads, on a warm spring day, they were worth every penny.

My mom has an 05 Elantra… She has the disc brakes and the better suspension. It’s not a bad car. I’d say throwing money and effort into one is comparable to throwing time and money into the first Nissan Altima, or an early-90s Accord. It’s not my thing, but more power to him.

A limited income, but I still pay for school, insurnace, cell phone, a girlfriend, and a car. So my thought of a limited income is differing form yours. And no, I don’t drink, I was in the passenger seat when my friend was broad sided from a drunk driver when I was 16. Also, working 30 hours a week with a $10.00 an hour pay is my limited income. So I really doubt I need you to tell me how I need to spend my money.

but you did spend money to turbo an elantra…or you are going to or whatever…not the best financial descision you could ahve made…only because u could ahve spent alot less to build a much faster car

who cares

Then I would of spent another lump sum on another car just to put as much work into it. Speed and looks aren’t everything to some of us. It’s a Hyundai, and god forbid, an Elantra, but think what you want, its just your opinion.

if ur not into speed why turbo?

Why does it matter to begin with.

Everyone has their own tastes. The sooner everyone learns this and quits getting so stupid over some of this shit the better this board will be…

Don’t give me that all this ball busting “is all in fun” or its only the internet, because there are some people that are so against anything that isn’t their bag of tea, they get stupid and down right insulting.

News flash, there is no right or wrong in a hobby that is based on PERSONAL PREFERNCE.

Only negitives in this hobby are people’s shitty attitudes or not installing somthing safely / properly. Example someone using duct tape to install saftey harnesses, or someone trying to JB weld a car hood in place…
