Plus i bought another TB Sata drive. I figured since the 8800GT blows the 8800GTX/Ultra away id save some money and get the 24inch Widescreen, I also was going to get the corsair dominator memory but reviews stated there really isnt a performance gain from that memory to the memory i got, saved 400 bucks there also.

This thing better fly.

24inch monitor FTW!!! those are AWESOME… I wish i did 2 24’s instead of 3 20’s :frowning:

I think you may have over spent though :frowning:

yeah but i have dell business credit at 10k, so im happy, i found some online coupons also, saved about 400 bucks. I would of overspent alot if i went with the intel extreme qx6800, i can OC this chip plenty if i really needed too, also could of opted for the water cooled XPS, at 600 more, lol no need for that either.

first thing im doing is wiping the system to get rid of all the crap thats loaded on there.

nice XP, vista is a failure of an OS

fuck yeah, no way i was getting vista and dealing with all the shit that comes with it.

kickass.

I cant speak for the XPS units, but the stock Dell MOBOs will slow your shit down ridiculously.

400 FSB FTL

There is no way they run at 400mhz fsb…

Nice pickup though

lol uhh no, this is all top of the line stuff here, i researched a ton b4 i bought it. i dont need a FSB bottle necking my shit

Okay. You’re right, I’m wrong, because I obviously have no reason to say 400. It is apparently 266 mhz :gotme:

Belarc advisor on my bro in laws 2 month old inspiron:

Yes, it is much slower then it need be.

I’ll screen print it for you.

Belarc has been on the spot on machines that I’ve built from scratch. :gotme:

I bought a very similar dell (on sale + work discount + internet coupon + $200 in gift cards), but bought a new mobo from newegg before the Dell even shipped. It was still a steal, I basically got the Samsung 22" widescreen for free… and paid the retail price on the Q6600. :tspry:

I wqas speaking to the budget’esque inspirons, sorry.

BTW: Pretty handy tool when you are working someone elses PC, been using it ~3 years, never a bug or problem or malware.

When I bought this Inspiron 6000d back in 05, this is what the desktop/task bar looked like out of the box:

It’s ridiculous how much bs they put on them from the factory, and people wonder why their new (insert whatever company) computer is slow out the box lol.

yeah, i did hear tho that dell has stopped putting a ton of stuff tho, but norton is on there, and thats the first pos to go.

wow…u whore

makes me want a new comp… :frowning:

buy me one??

kthx

home built computers ftw

Should have hit me up. I can get pretty good pricing on Dell computers. They usually let me price match or less any system they offer. In most cases as least.

Nice system though.

been there done that, dont care anymore really, getting too old i guess.

Got news for ya pal, but the 8800gtx and ultra perform quite a bit better at higher resolutions youll be playing on. I assume 1920x1200. If you play at lower resolutions, the 8800gt IS ON PAR with the gtx and ultra, yes. Blow it away? haha. Also if you have 2 of those 8800gt cards, youll definitely want that q6600 at at least 3.0 1333. But with only one 8800gt, im sure 2.4 1066 will suffice, in terms of “no bottleneck”. If you did nearly as much research as you claimed, youd have waited till mid march to get a 9 series card. That or at least wait until they were released so your 8 series card would have been cheaper. Its a nice pc yes, but i really hope you didnt pay more than say…$1400 on it.

Sigh…All that money and Tech goodness, and you didn’t even match the RAM speed and your FSB.

I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed.

Everything looks pretty good to me, but I would have went with a Core 2 Duo E8400 over the quad, mostly because too few apps that I use are optimized for the quad and actually run faster on a higher clocked dual. Plus the lower power consumption of the Wolfdale core allows the flexibility of overclocking and near-silent operation. It depends on what you plan to use it for, really. For a HTPC and gaming machine, I’d go dual. For more office stuff/or heavy video encoding, I’d go quad.

Hey, at least now you can play COD 4 PROPERLY… not to mention Crysis.
