I got a question

Hey all, this may sound stupid, but would a tranny from a Ka24E fit the engine from a 84 300Z engine, because right now, I am thinking of buying one that runs 12’s in the 1/4 mile, but the body is shit on it, and i would love to put it in my sil/80.

Thanks Jason

Search ENTER_SEARCH_ENGINE_HERE and you shall find.
This does not strike me as a very technical board and is probably not the best place to ask this question BUT.
With a little Google search I found.

http://www.z31.com/transmission.shtml

The second strongest Z31 manual transmission is the FS5W71C. This transmission is used in the 240SX, 180SX, Silvia, etc. A few people who have blown up their FS5R90As have swapped to this transmission and not had problems. A lot of 240SX owners have this transmission mated to their SR20DETs and KA24DETs running 400+ hp with no problems. Any short throw shifter made for the 240SX (S12, S13, S14, S15) will fit perfectly in this transmission.

This makes reference to a KA24DE and not a KA24E. I am not sure if they are the same transmission but they probably have the same bellhousing bolt pattern.

FS5W71C is the gearbox model for ca-, ka-, and sr- equipped 240sx’s. as stated, the only difference is the bellhousing. the only exception is the european 200sx equipped with the ca18det. that gear box had taller 1st-3rd, same 4th, and a slightly shorter 5th.

this transmission can also be found in the vg30e non-turbo z31’s as well as later models of the s12.

If you read before the first quote, you’ll see that this Transmission number is for a 5 speed non-turbo 300ZX (Z31)
If you read after the first quote, you’ll see that the Z31 Turbo has a different transmission than the Non-Turbo, which means you will need to specify whether the engine is turbo or not. If it is anything like the Z32 then getting the Non-Turbo vs the Turbo transmission to work is a matter of shimming the starter out. The bellhousing seems to be the same.

If you do a search and some reading I’m sure you will find your exact answer.

Thanks pcproa, that helped out alot.
