Has anyone redeemed an actual certificate?
I bought one for a really nice steak place by my house. It was a $50 gift certificate for $6. The fine print says:
minimum food purchase $100
18% gratuity and taz added to check pre-discount
Im assuming that alcohol won’t be included in the $100. So lets say i spend $101. That means with tax and tip it will be $125 then I get $50 off that?? or $50 off $101 + tax and tip?
ive used them at chop house, there is alot of fine print to read tho, but they are def worth it.
the “fine print” is mentioned under the certificate details on their site. You should be fully aware of the stipulations before purchasing a certificate. any decent steakhouse will cost you over a $100 for 2 without drinks.

Someone told me they used a few of these here in Rochester, and the restaurants gave them a hard time about it - something about how so many people come in with them, and how they were going to stop doing it. This was like a year ago though. They took the coupon, but my friend had to hear this huge long spiel about it.
Just print them out on nice paper 
that’s ridiculous. these restaurants signed up to offer the certificates. don’t bitch after you actually start getting customers, it’s a way for people to try new places and if they like it there, they’ll go again and pay full price.
i bought some of these last month, if someone gives me a hard time about using one of these it will mean instant loss of tip and a lot of bad word of mouth advertisement on my part. don’t hassle your customers, show some common business knowledge.

Edit: There were a few restaurants that I’ve been wanting to try out, and just haven’t. This will be good incentive to actually get me to go.
