Well my alarm clock is dead, and sleeping on average 5 to 6 hours a night I need something just short of a nuclear bomb to make sure that I wake up.
Typical snooze button has gotten me in trouble before and cellphone alarms are not much help either.
Some choices for now
Jigsaw Puzzle Alarm Clock
The Puzzle Alarm wakes you up by firing four puzzle pieces up in the air, then it is your mission to get the pieces and put them back in the alarm clock or it won’t turn off until then. Price:$52
The Sfera alarm clock hangs from the ceiling above your bed. When the alarm goes off, you can reach up and touch it to activate the snooze function causing it retract towards the ceiling. When snooze goes off again, you have to reach higher to activate the snooze again. Each time you activate the snooze function the alarm retracts a little higher to the point that you get your butt out of bed.
Clocky
When you hit Clocky’s snooze button, he will roll off of the nightstand, fall to the floor, and run around the room, searching for a place to hide. When the alarm sounds again, you have to get out of bed to find it and turn it off. He finds a new spot everyday, “kind of like a hide-and-seek game”.Video of Clocky in action.
Price:$50
This is not related but makes for a fantastic prank.
Sonic Grenade Alarm
The Sonic Alarm will wake pretty well anything up. Simply pull the pin, yell an emphatic “fire in the hole” and lob the grenade into the sleeper’s room. After ten seconds a very annoying and piercingly loud noise (there are three volume settings) will blast out from the alarm. That’s not all however, what makes this especially great is that to stop the alarm the sleeper has to find you so you can put the pin back in. Price:$19 :ahh
Some close contenders that work good in theory but not practice were the
bomb diffusal alarm
Regular alarms have one big flaw, they are way too easy to shut off and in a sleep deprived mind set, you I have had a tendency to completely shut them off or turn them off and having no memory of it, even though I clearly remember setting it the night before.
Snooze is way too easily activated. The regular alarm clocks let you decide whether you want to wake up or not, I want a clock that will force me to get up one way or another.
Most of these have to be ordered online, you got the names of the clocks in the post.
A few like Clocky are available at stores such as Target.
I remember seeing an interview with the girl that invented Clocky, shes doing real well now.
ya i tore my sleep button out of my alarm clock completely when i used to go to school
i found that i best wake up when good music is playin
so if i had to do it again, i would have my pc set to have an alarm and blast my media player library at whatever time it needed to wake me up, and when i loud music, with good bass is goin on, i wake up alot easier and its alot better
That’s my problem, I just hit snooze like 5 times and eventually shut it off without knowing…missed class like 8 times so far because of that :headbang
I just have mine in the opposite corner of my room and once I turn it off I go immediately to the bathroom and splash my face with cold water and put my contacts in. Then I’m pretty much forced to get in the shower and get on with the morning ;D
i should make a program, with my limited skills, that starts up windows media player, at the given time and rasies the pc volume to 100 and blasts the fuckin shit until u solve a complicated math problem
When I lived at Siena I used to set my computer to blast my iTunes as my alarm clock… In flames playing through my $200 setup at 8am woke me up pretty quick… as well as my room mate… and several people down the hall :rofl
