oh and i love the color, i want to paint my beater candy plasma blue, its fun to say.

So how has the bike been treating ya?

First off I am not bashing anyone… just want to start out with that.

On with my rant: :banana There are 2 categories of “First Bike” people, I think, and have witnessed last week as a matter of fact.

First person, someone who has riden a dirt bike &/or a quad. This person, knows the rear brake is on the right foot, left foot controls the shifting, right hand or thumb controls the throttle & the front brakes, and left hand controls the clutch. These people should know how to make the machine go forward and come to a complete stop, without incident. If they ride anything above a total beginners speed/ability out on the trails, I put them into a 600cc “first bike” class.

Second person, someone who doesnt know how to use a hand clutch, or maybe doesn’t even know where it it located. They dont know that it isnt a good idea to jam on the rear brakes. OR maybe they know about the above, and are somewhat capable of moving the machine forward and stopping it, but may encounter incident! I would put these people on a <600CC bike!

My girlfriend want to ride with me. She grew up on a farm and ride quads, mostly automatic or semi automatic trans, but has taken my race quad around the field a time or to. BUT, she has not crashed one, hasnt ridden above her abilities very much, all in all, i would rank her as a beginner. She is also 4’ 11"! She jumped on my friends 08 ninja 250 one day in the drive way with intent to purchase. She could not touch both feet, and was a little over whelmed with the entire machine while sitting on it! I honestly think she could be a safe rider, but it would take allot of parking lot practice before going to the road.

Here is the kicker. lol. I took that little bugger out for a spin. let me tell you, I felt like I was riding an over sized pocket bike. First off the clutch moves a mile and has a LONNNGGG feathering point, you cant stall this bike! Second the throttle is soooo slow to rev and has noooo torque you can ride out and slip the piss out of the clutch and not spin the tires or lift the front wheels. The brakes, are a step above the disk brakes on my mountain bike, on or off, enough power to slow you safely at a low to mod. speed, but not much feel or responsiveness. I weigh in at a whopping 140lbs, and blew through the suspension travel on a 2 inch lowered manhole cover. now on to speed, it has none. I wadded through 1-3 gear not totally to redline, but high enough, and reached 42 miles an hour, in about the time my moms mini van would do. I honestly see this bike being beat by a Kia. Handling… I guess it shines here… very nibble, light weight, compact, BUT, not enough TQ to pull you in and out of sweepers, and I would not want to enter anything at speeds that precision control would require. Just because it will do 125, doesnt mean it will do it safely, not to mention you need to slow that down safely as well, and i would not try it with these brakes.

ON THE FLIP SIDE, it is a great bike for the second rider i explained. I will teach you all you need to know to start out riding, could keep more or all your skin and bones intact what a 600cc first bike will. Plus they are cheap. But, if you fall into rider 1 description you will turn around and sell the 250 in a few months time and get a bigger bike. Also, if you are happy with the bike and have fun safely on it, mission accomplished bro! Looking forward to seeing you on the roads.

as always, this is my on opinion… this is my Shift518 disclaimer. :smile

that bro isn’t a bro, bro. RSXTC is a chick. LOL

:+1

HAHAHA, lol, opps!
