Well?
did she mean miles per gallon or mile per gallon?
LoL I’m guessing 8ish? I haven’t recorded the ~300 miles I’ve put on her.
Update.
Change the new tire set up.
Fronts 335/30/18
Rears 345/40/17
and
Josh- IMO, you are overdoing the fronts. Everyone out there has found the ideal balance to be in the 305-315 range up front, not to mention when coupled with your choice of rears… is asking for a basketcase of car handling. Your rear is going to have a LOT of transitional sway with a sidewall like that compared to the front. Yes, it will dig laterally very well, but it just isn’t balanced well on sidewall characteristics. The Viper is 49/51 distributed, it is not actually front heavy like everyone thinks- the only time you will see front sizes like that is on all out race Vipers that don’t need to reach full lock and/or are stripped anyway, and even that is fairly rare.
I got the 335s for free so I can’t really complain. I’ll use um till they burn up. Thanks!!
Unless they are really bad, then I supposed I can use them on my vette and buy some 305s
The tires will seem very expensive if they chew up the corners of your hood and inner fender shields, or rock-blast the side of the car from the offset needed to keep them away from everything else. They are at the limit of what will fit up front.
EEEEKK Do not want damage I’ll be sure to watch very very closely or just toss them on the vette. Thanks for the tips!
No problem. Also, be aware of overall tire height issues on the Gen-2’s. They have no problems with widths up to 15", but if the overall height gets too large and/or the ride height is too low, splash shields & the inner edge of the rear quarters will be a common damage item for you, ha. Make sure you dont go crazy on lowering, and make sure tire is tucked on suspension travel.
I stumbled across a sheet metal intake for the viper. I can get it for $1000…should I buy it?
CCW’s should be on her this weekend.
This just amazes me…you can fit “both” my front tires on one side. Fuck.
Also how is a Viper with 4.10’s? LoL
Do you like traction?
traction is overrated. lol.
Traction in 2nd would be ok
345’s ftw lol.
LOL
If you don’t need the tires that came on the stock wheels I say throw them in hank’s trailer for me to burn up next year.
Huge waste of money unless you have Striker heads. Even then…still a big waste of money in most cases. Only specific types of builds would actually need one, and you would have to be nuts to spend the money on Striker heads and a sheet metal intake setup when a Gen-4 conversion is around the same price, and will flow just as well or better, look better, have higher port velocity, and is available more quickly.
My advise is to not try and piece together a build, you will be sorely disappointed. Go with a full package that someone offers, unless you like lots of headaches, non interchangeable parts, and disappointing results. THIS IS NOT AN LS1, DON’T TRY AND TREAT IT LIKE ONE. There is a reason that us tuners do not openly post tons of information and specifics- its because most people get it wrong. The vast majority of the parts readily available in the Viper market are only a small piece of the puzzle, or have major downsides attached to them unless used correctly [and in some cases, always].

Vipers were never intended to be geared with 4.10’s short of a drag only setup. Do you like shifting constantly? All you effectively do is make 1st gear useless, and every gear act like the gear below it, while at the same time drastically lowering the cars top speed.
Yah I stumbled across a guy that had a brand new 4:10 rear end and that sheet metal intake. I figured it wouldn’t work well, shorter runners and not being set up for the the engine heads, figured I’d ask. Just put the CCW’s on. The fronts are super wide, I think I might get a narrower barrel for them so I can comfortably run 295s or the like. Thanks
