I agree with Dustin in that, if the shield doesn’t reach as high as the cap, its utility is limited.
Well I’ll start by saying it was purposely made 3/16’’ of an inch shy from the cap for a reason.
Before I state my reason (which I’ve backed up with a Heak Soak Test using an Infra Red Temp Gun) how about you tell me why the 3/16’’ of an inch difference is going to ultimately effect its “utility”
instead of turning this in to a shitfest why don’t you just say “i’ll replace your melted cap if it still melts with my headshield installed” 
Hmmm… Well I’m still willing to try it, I mean I’m a little sceptical if it will stop the cap from melting but this up coming dunnville day will surely provide all the proof needed. For the bottom mount guys though not covering the cap won’t affect you in the slightest.
The Test I did using the Temp Gun was as follows… All 3 runs were 10 min’s and I beat on the car purposely trying to get the Turbo/Manifold hot to see how much the MC would heat up. Runs where done 2hrs a part from each other as well to let the car/engine bay/MC completely cool down before the next run.
Temps from the Turbo of 700-800F where as the Manifold was around 500-550F
Without the Sheild installed the MC was reaching temps of 165-175F but with the Sheild installed the max temps I got were between 104-109F. So the Sheild is keeping the MC atleast 65-75F Cooler
Now here is the interesting part… I also did the test with a Sheild that was 3/4’’ higher (so it went over the Cap) and without the Knotched removed for the Strut bar. Temps at the MC were then between 120-125F which is actually hotter. And the reason its hotter is because the MC cannot breath at all, or more so, theirs no air moving over it at all which is actually trapping the heat in.
So I take it you have a Top Mount setup ? If you want Dustin, I can make your’s custom to your application so it fits/covers exactly the way you want it too…
If you could make me one that just goes up flush with the top of the mbc cap that would be AWESOME. What are the chances of getting it before this weekend?
