Inexpensive DD advice.

lol @ “s-dime”

The Vortec is a solid motor for sure^ overall great truck for sure.

I would go with a truck. Cars to haul shit around is just inconvenient.

Ill chime in since I have a 2001 s-10 4 cylinder. I drive roughly 50 miles a day to and from work 5 days a week mostly highway . As it was said before it can barley get out of its own way and only gets about 23-25 mpg. It is pretty comfy if you arent a big guy and is nice when you have to haul a few things around, but dont put to much weight into it.

I have to look mature and responsible, not poor and first car haha. I must admit I did look into them, but god damn they look shitty in stock form. I’d be better off with a taurus or escort wagon as they’re cheaper.

So I think truck it is, is 2wd going to piss me off in the winter? Should I go 5spd or are the autos ok in the s10?

^^

Am I missing something? Do s10’s not come with power windows?

98-01 Honda accord wagon

I loved my s10! I had an 02, v6. power windows/doors, ac, etc etc. comfy as hell. Being 2wd I wouldnt have driven it in the snow though, an extended cab would have been nice too. a 4cyl, 5-speed would be a good compromise but I dont think you can get 4wd with the 4cyl.

Thats why I asked if you had to pay for gas cause getting a pick up truck or suv would be a far better option. The 4 banger s10s are nice trucks. From what I hear, stay away from the 4.3s.

I never had problems with the 4.3’s I’ve had. Plus they are all over so parts are easy and cheap to find.

Ha^ thats funny. Lots of them are pretty bare trucks.

Seems as though the ext cab v6 4x4 ranger/s10’s are few and far between in my price range.

What are our thoughts on the durango? Maybe a jeep? I’ve also been peepin the forester.

Since it’s gonna be my outta work DD as well, it was brought to my attention I need something with some room for the dogs and such. So a reg cab truck is out of the question.

I’ve never heard anything good about Durango’s, but if you are looking into SUV’s we all know I’m partial to blazers… lol

My parents owned a '98 Durango they purchased new. What a piece of junk.

I had a '98 Jimmy and it was pretty reliable.

My uncle had a '98 GMC Envoy he never changed the oil in, or had any maintenance done for that matter and was reliable for years lol besides eating multiple trans. So I can’t complain about the 4.3

I have a 98 explorer I picked up 2 years ago on craigslist with 113K on it for $1800. All I;ve done it tires, brakes and shocks. @ 160K now.

Civic/Accord/Camry/Corolla…

Isn’t the 4.3 just a small block with two cylinders cut off?

What about an a 2000 or so Impala? Just another respectable looking car that you can get a 3.8 in, and you can fit dogs in the back.
