Somewhat belated intro.

aka “Ezzie”, my name is Bob Esseltine and I live in Georgetown, ON. I am 52 yrs. old and my first real car was a 240Z which I bought in 1972. Since then I’ve owned dozens of 240Z’s, 510’s, RX2’s, RX3’s, RX4’s, 240SX’s and a few other pieces of junk along the way I’d just as soon forget about. My wife has a 1991 240SX FB SE as well (how many grandmothers do you see driving around in a 240SX these days??).

My passion has been RWD sports cars, preparing them and competing in just about every kind of motorsports. I autocrossed both 240Z’s and RX3’s for a few years (they call it Solo II now). 240Z in Ontario Regional racing (it was called C Production back then) for a couple of years. Ice Racing (RX2 & RX3). Endurance racing in the 240Z (Molyslip Endurance Challenge and the BFG Sundowner). IMSA RS racing in the US with an RX3 then a later 510 (1978), racing at Daytona a couple of times had to be the highlight. Navigational rallying with a PL510. Performance rallying with an RX3 for a few years - figured out how to bridgeport a rotary and make it go. Then moved on to long distance marathon type rallying (Alcan 5000 twice, CanAMex rally in '86, Australian Wynn’s Safari). Then I hung up my helmet.

I have three sons (26, 24, 22 now) all getting into the fray so last year I helped one build up an RX-7 he is going to use for Solo 1 this year, another I helped do an SR20DET swap in a 240SX for - expect to see him out for some Solo 1’s as well this summer.

Now I’ve got a project going as well. Building up a mint condition 1973 PL510 I had sitting in the garage for the last 20 years or so. We stuffed an SR20DET into it and all 300ZX running gear. I plan on using it to compete in the Targa Newfoundland rally in 2005 (this year is a shakedown year).

See ya around this summer!

All you newbs take note ^^^ Bob here has put together a legible and understandable intro. May we welcome him into our club and hope like hell that he is as grumpy as all the other old farts on the board

Hey guys.

I’m back in S13 land.

Just picked up another 89 SOHC for dirt cheap in the trader this week. This is my second one.

I’ve had the prvivlege to own most of the early nineties and later eighties Japanese Turbo cars. Including an 88 10th AE FC3S TII, 89 MKIII Supra turbo, 88 Mazda MX6 GT. I’m on my FIFTH turbo DSM right now. Best bang for the buck IMO. I’ve had a plethora of other cars too…including Hondas and Mustang 5.0’s. There’s been MANY.

No, I’m not a shooter, no I’m not a little rich kid. I’ve just never been satisfied by any one car. Something catches my eye and I go tot eh trader next day to sell my ride to pick up another one. Commitment issues.  I don’t intend to sell a car when I buy one…but I just always want something else. I can’t help it.

I’m also an avid sportbike rider. I work at a local bike shop (Cycle World East) and went back to full time school last year. I ride a '01 GSX-R 600 if you’re wondering.

I got this new car as I blew my top end (timing belt again) on the DSM on Wednesday night. Went and talked this guy in the trader the next evening (tonight, Thursday). My schedule dictates that I must have my own vehicle. Public Transport doesn’t cut it with my work and school/church schedule. Got this thing for cheap.

So now, I’m parking the DSM for a month or so till I ge tsome money to do it right the first time. Nice shiny new ported head coming soon.

Anyways, gotta few questions, posted in the tech and Classifed sections.

Regards, ronne.

Welcome Ezzie and Ronne to SON =]

I think you should buy a new Grammar Information Module (GIM for short). It corrects any deviances from the proper grammatical form. You can get one any place dictionaries are sold.

Oh, and welcome.:D/

welcome, i’m not too crazy about the name.
