meh, im with Blaynar on this one. So what if hes got a Geo right now. He doesnt come on here talking like its the shit and that its gonna tear everyone up. Its a decent, reliable car to get him through college, and to deliver food in. You guys are crucifying him for having his priorities straight. Going to college and getting a degree and making $60-70K w/ benefits > getting a job right out of high school and making 30K, no benefits, no room for promotion. And its not even like you guys are ballers, you both have 5.0’s.
:gives:

guess it all depends on the field. My one buddy went to Median school for prosthetics… he got offered around 40K a year right out of there, he declined, and is continuing right now at SRU to get his bachelor. He should be in the neighborhood of 60K right then and there. Taco will be looking to make somewhere in that amount if he gets his job working in a block factory, with 6 figures possible in a few years, and i think thats only a associates degree in concrete technology…thats kinda a unique situation though. sad thing is most bartenders and some waiters (if you are at the right place) down here in OC are pulling in 60-70K a year, easily more if you get the right shift at the right bar. Hell, ill should be making over $10 an hour after i get my promotion to Front desk supervisor, and that will be well under what i was making at the prime of the summer at the restaurant i was waiting tables at. On a good night i could walk with 160-180 a night, but then you have to work shitty day shifts where you make $20, and on the busy nights you work your ass off, so this job should be a little bit more consistent and less stressful.

i graduated with honors and went to georgetown for my masters (which i never finished once my scholarship ran up)… this is teh first year i made “real” money, i paid more in taxes this year than i made last year… my first year out i made 15k… and at least i was employed alot of my friends with degrees couldn’t even find work.
my boy just finished pitt engineering school and couldn’t find work in the city with an engineering degree; he joined the peace corp… it’s not what you know… it’s WHO you know

Yeah Pittsburgh isn’t so great for engineering.
I think what you know certainly helps though. When we interview people (which isn’t very often) education and capability/experience are very important. Even for interns.
I deliver Chinese food.
Working fifty to sixty hours a week, I made about $30,000 this year. I paid off all the debt I accumulated since I turned 18.
$6.50 an hour, plus $2 per delivery, plus tips.
I wouldn’t take anything out of college under $25k a year, and I’d only take something that low if the career had potential.
I was going to school to be a high school or college professor, but my dad has been persuading me to become an investment broker or something else along those lines. Given my affinity for stuff a high school teacher can’t really afford, I’m inclined to agree with him.
