Is rad support needed for S15 front end conversion?

In order to perform the conversion I need the froni fenders the hood the headlights the front bumper and hood hinges but I’ve seen the radiator support I was just wondering if the rad support is a must or if it is possible(with very little work) to do it without it?

You can use the s13 rad support, but you will need to cut bigger holes for the headlights and make custom brackets to hold the headlights.

s14 rad support works much better, and less cutting is involved.

s15 rad support makes it all easier.

also fyi, you can use s14 hood latches.

I think I read somewhere that the holes don’t line up properly on the s13 one.

Add me to msn. My info is VVV

Or you can get SWAAT headlight brackets, which allow you to mount the headlights and forget about the rad support altogether.

Link?

afaik, the lights don’t fit which is why you have to cut the rad support on s13.

The SWAAT brackets allow you to remove the rad support afaik.

thanks that seems like a much better (and cheaper) option the getting the rad support and putting it in, and i really didn’t want to modify the original to make it fit

yes the swaat brackets make it easier but you still need to modify the core support. its not as easy as it sounds either…
also have fun with the fitment if you dont know autobody realllly well.
here is a link for an s13-15 conversion with the stock support. pretty sure its the only how to for this in existence.

your welcome
if you need more info on this conversion just ask.
oh and also the s14 hinges will work but only two of three holes… this is covered in the link above

the best way is not always the cheapest way…if you want the best fitment go with an s15 rad support and try to source a re bar if possible

the best way is usually never the cheaper way lol

Anyone know where to get the rad support? Would a Nissan dealer be able to order that easily?

ebay nissan dealers give alot of hassle i found anyway

raceon also carries them.

Courtesy Nissan carries them.

You need the rad support to hold your rad. You can’t just “remove” it either, it’s not a bolt on piece.

The headlights won’t fit without modification to the s13 main/rad support.

There you go:

The difference is in the hole for the lights.

You can compare the appearance in the link I just posted to your actual rad support.

You have to get it welded on and the spot you cut/weld it on is important for the lights to line up properly.

Here is a pic of a friend’s s14.5, this is pretty much right before paint:

here’s the clearest pic of my s13 rad support modified for the conversion…don’t do it this way.
