I bought a 2006 STi that technically had a heart attack. It is a nice STi stock with intake and full exhaust, 80k miles.
Well it had an issue…
Pickup tube broke off where it connects at the block. Common problems on 2006 STi.
Since I bought the car like this, I didn’t know how long it ran without oil pressure. I decided to play it safe and rebuild the engine.
Rod bearing wasn’t destroyed or grooved. It was bronzed on the power side.
I took the engine to the machine shop and there is no damage. Stock clearances on the crank and pistons.
I am going to install:
Mahle Ceramic Coated Pistons
08 oil pump
New timing belt and pulleys
ACL bearings
ACT HD 6 puck clutch
I don’t think I will ever figure out where all the coolant piping and lines will go. LOL
Nice car, button it up sell it and buy an evo.
evo’s are just expensive dsm’s… at least this car got him home without oil pressure…
Funny, I actually considered that at one point! LOL
Somebody flattened my engine…
evos are not expensive anymore. you can probably pocket some cash. and evos are just new dsms, but overall alot better.
Jason drove his everyday with 4th gear somewhere inside the gearbox I swear it lasted like 30k or more like that until it finally pooped out
mod for mod, evos run circles around scoobs, but they still dont have that cool sound.
awesome car man…really like the mud dragster behind it though
Scoobys>evos
nice score. Was it cheap? I wouldn’t mind finding one like that to fix and sell. Maybe even drive it awhile.
Spoolin: I do love the sound of the Subie, I can’t go Evo because 4 of 5 friends are already driving Evo’s.
Wayne: Yes, my uncles car. Absolutely insane machine!!
6Speed: I got a killer deal on it. Even with mods I am going to be ahead big time!!
Some blowby and skirt scuffing
I don’t know anything about Subaru’s What is the bore on that engine?
Just under 3.912" or something close. Don’t have the sheet in front of me. 1/8th of an inch from the bore of my 400 SBC! LOL
