Sort of. On the newer design with the larger IMS bearing model year late 05-MY08 (before they eliminated it entirely in 2009) the tool LN invented to pull the bearing from outside the engine won’t work because the larger IMS bearing won’t fit out the flange opening (requiring engine removal and complete disassembly to replace the bearing). Apparently the failure rate is much less on the new large IMS bearing, but when they do go it’s still with little to no warning and complete engine destruction.

A few months ago I spent a lot of hours reading about the IMS variations and how the engine oiling system has changed on the different model/years for a long time customer considering a GT3. I went through Porsche service updates, engine diagrams from service manuals, various writeups etc. I know the IMS failure is not as common on the engine you have and that’s great, though it can still happen.

I’m not saying your car will have a problem because I see Porsches blow up almost every time I’m at the Glen. I’m concerned about the potential of it happening based on research. Seeing it over and over and knowing friends have nearly totalled their cars due to losing control in the oil downs the failures cause just keeps the issue on my mind. All sorts of cars blow up at the Glen and what I see is a small sample of cars run very hard. I imagine the incidence of failure on the street is considerably lower. If you just cruise it around I agree you’ll probably be fine and I hope that’s the case.

I’m sorry you mistook my concern for you as something else, and I wish you luck with the car.

MPD the Porsche I posted pics of in May that blew up in front of me was a GT3 unless someone swapped the body panels and added the wing, but the others didn’t fail while I was on track so I don’t have video going by them.

I was talking about leaving the bearing alone because it’s so much work on that gen engine…not the whole car.

The yellow car? Days of thunder in the toe? That was a C2 with an aero kit.

This is awesome in retrospect.

X…

Proud of you, homie. Just remember to drive the VW to the initial sales calls and the p-car only after the deal is closed and you are picking up signed docs.

Nah drive the Porsche. I look at sales guys who have lesser vehicles as more inferior at their job. My nice cars just show that I am good at what I do and I deserve your business, not that I am ripping you off.

Completely depends on industry

In the paint business I always get “oh you drive a bmw, that’s why your paint it so expensive.” To which I always reply, “If you’re impressed by a 20 year old $2k car, you’re going to love my presentation” lol. fggts.

We have this thread already, lol.

Yeah, sorry. This whole thread is filled with so much hate on his bad ass new ride, I just had to throw something in there.

Nice car, congrats on the pickup!

IS THIS THING AWD YET??

Paint teeth on it!!!

^^^ This is why it’s a good thing you don’t own one. LOL

…and no I probably won’t be driving it to work. I realize why EvoMR doesn’t drive his to work, people are such haters.

X…

I think the general impression from people when they see someone in a porsche is that you are a rich asshole, not a auto enthusiast. Get ready for even more hate than when driving the bimmer.

Fixed your spelling.

Spot on. And unless you actually have a conversation about the car, the stock assumption is that you are an asshole. In X’s case, people need to talk to him to know that he is both.

I’m pretty sure you bought this just so you could change your avatar and sig…

 lol

LMAO.

Only on the bullrun lol.

Definitely doing it when I have some monies…
