looking for one stick of ddr2 4gb stick. id like to spend 75ish. anyone know where i can get one? i will also have for SALE a 2gb stick from my laptop i just bought yeasterday
gl finding a 4gb anywhere near that price. They go for about double that from what I’ve seen. Not to mention that’s a big chip…Most people don’t have those laying around as scrap.
i see them new for $100 online when there is a sale on like newegg, they have one for 114 right now might just buy it
Yeah…I was exagerating a bit. $75 for a chip that size is probably not going to happen tho. $114 isn’t a bad deal at all, and newegg has never let me down.
PS…WTF are you trying to do with 6gb ram? From the other thread I gather you know that you’ll need to run 64bit os? 32bit will only see up to 4gb though it will report 3.5gb in my experience.
i am running 64bit. i have 4 now wanna get to 6 for some video/ps stuff. i know 4 is enough but i want 6 for more streamline less lag
In the other thread it was determined that you have shared video memory from what I recall? Shared vid, combined with a mobile (reduced capacity) processor may be a wrench in your spokes for vid editing if you’re dealing with HD or large files.
My 2 cents…the added 2gb won’t make a gigantic impact TBH. I’d probably spend the $100 towards a big high rpm external hard drive for storage of edited vid. Your internal drive is probably 4,200 or 5,400 rpm I would think…given that shared vid ram. That’s also not conducive to editing video, which is why a 7.2k or 10k rpm drive would be a good investment.
That shared vid ram is a dealbreaker for me…it’s a performance killer. ESPECIALLY on the newer, graphic intense Vista and Win 7. Be sure to turn off many of the 3d fancy effects within windows to save what you can for performance on the video editing.
