Last few questions before I attempt my MT swap. *Pics*

Alright, over the last new weeks I have been acclimating my MT swap parts.
By the time I’m finished collecting everything I need for my swap I will have purchased from more then 6 different SON members and used 401 Dixie Nissan. Just a word of advice to anyone thinking about doing a swap, if someone is selling a complete swap down to the last nut and bolt BUY IT, its a real pain in the ass to find everything you need.

Now I have a few questions before I pull my working AT and then find out I am missing something I need. There are a few things that MT swap tutorials seem to overlook.

Alright my first question is in regards to bolts. (haha) I don’t have any bolts…I am missing bolts for my bell housing, shifter, master cylinder and slave and flywheel and presser plate bolts.
Do I need to track down all the part numbers for the bolts I need and order them from 401 Dixie? Does anyone know of companies that sell bolt packages? What bolts can be used from my AT?

I found this on ebay for my bell housing, would it be cheaper to use my AT bolts and buy the extra bolts that I need from Nissan?:

^that covers my bell housing, but I am still up shits creek without a paddle for the rest of the bolts.

Next question:

Are these two parts mandatory (red & blue)? I know it sounds dumb, but will I able to complete my swap without them?
In Red is the shifter spring, I believe it hold my shifter in place so I believe I need it, but I am unable to find it. In blue in the upper shift bracket, is it mandatory?

Now for the picture in green, does the upper snap ring go above the large metal ball on the shifter and then snapped into the control housing? Im not really sure what I do with it…

Anyways guys, thanks for reading my huge post, if you have any ideas about my questions please post them.
Also if you have anything that I am looking for, please PM me.
Thanks

Ohh I am also missing hard lines for my clutch.
How hard is it to bend new ones, can I use just a 60" line and bend it to shape?

Metal ring circled in blue, yes you do need. It holds down the black rubber boot, preventing exhaust gas from coming into the engine compartment. If you have a complete stock shifter assembly you don’t need to worry about that snap ring because the whole unit unbolts from the tranny with 6 bolts and I don’t think anyone would disasseble it, if you don’t have a stock shifter let me know I have 3 of them.

Do you have a shifter fork and the little spring that holds it in? I might be able to help you out with the shifter bolts as well. I don’t think I have the bell housing bolts thou.

shifter fork? for the TOB?
yes i do have that.
I believe I have everything needed but the part marked in blue.

the bolts I need for the shifter and the 4 bolts that are used for the part in blue and the rubber boot, let me know brother.
thanks

does anyone know if the AT flywheel bolts can be used for the swap into a MT?

no, you 100% need MT flywheel bolts.

and do you have a manual pilot bushing? the auto one is different… and it’s an awful thing to take out.

you also need pressure plate bolts, though they’re just 12mm bolts and you can probably find something laying around that will work since it’s a common sized bolt. just make sure it’s the correct grade or they may break leading to your pressure plate falling off, what fun that would be.

some of the auto bell housing bolts will work, some will not, the starter bolts are a different length so you’ll at least need to get those.

and yes, it’s far, far easier to buy the whole swap together as a kit, i’ve pieced one together for my first 240 and it was an awful experience.

It isn’t that difficuklt to take out. I have a method that has worked time and again.

Get a HUGE pair of channel locks. Get an adjustable wrench. Hold the crank pulley bolt with the wrench. Heat the pilot bushing a bit. Then take the channel locks to it.

Done. 5 minutes MAX.

i’ve tried something similar before but had no success on the first 2 cars i did 5 speed swaps on, i’ve always had to end up drilling a hole through the side of the bushing and crushing it with vice grips to get it out.

i talked to a guy at part source and its free to rent the manual pilot bushing remover
manual pilot bushing remover + slide hammer = 2 seconds

but I am sure that will not be the only obstacle to overcome

and I made a deal with the guy selling these bolts

i am getting all the bolts i need plus a stainless steal clutch line for 100 US
woot woot

The bolts are like $6 at nissan man.

Also, the puller won’t work. I’ve tried it multiple times. Some people say it has worked. But I don’t think it does very well. There isn’t enough of an inside lip to grab onto.

A wheel puller will come in handy for the removal of the old TOB if your clutch arm came with one.

wtf? the guy at 401 dixie told me $95 for just the bell house bolts… i will call one more time does any have any advice on things i may need or what to look out for?

heres something thats going to sound dumb but I need to ask.
do I need a M/T starter, or are AT MT starters the same?

they’re the same

Let us know how it goes man!
