LED lights for your home not car.

fluorescent > LED

for now…

Not IMHO.

just to add some facts…

linear fluorescent and compact fluorescent are still more efficient than 99%+ of LED tech. just because a lamp package uses 2 watts doesnt mean a thing if it only puts out <100 lumens.

the rated life of an LED is somewhat of a misconception. it is based on the actual diode life, before it’s installed in a completed package. also, the output of an LED decreases with age (often dramatically). the rating still uses those hours of very low output regardless.

That is great but I don’t use them in a lab, I use them in real life and they work great and don’t have mercury in them.

well that is my point. the actual life will be dramatically lower in the products you buy. why do you think they have 3-5 year warranties on products that are supposed to last 10-20 years…

$120 today, $20 in a year or two… . I’ll wait and save $100 per bulb.

^And waste all that energy too.

This is one of the MFG that we now have access to.

I have yet to call and get specific pricing for any of the products, but the Festival H13-Vf and the Dimmable PAR 30 Look really interesting. I may just have to order some samples.

bandwagon greenie…:roflpicard:

buy a smaller house, then you can talk

i am just playing devils advocate here

$120 would take 4 years to break even
$20 would take 9 months to break even

it would be more cost efficient to wait lol

$20 sounds low but you never know I guess.
You can buy $20 lights right now but, you get what you pay for sometimes.

i am just playing with ya.

you definitely get what you pay for.

my inlaws own a local lighting production facility and are working on new led based designs. i have some sweet trouble lights.

^Is it Lite Lab Corp. I was there last year looking into doing some machining for them (with no luck). Maybe because I asked them about LEDs and they said they had not designed any LED lights yet.

Allways thinking long term

X…

it’s a dangerous “what if” long term game…

what it - you invested the money instead of buying fancy light bulbs.

how is 120 cheeper… you go buy a 4 pack of 15w enegerystar shits for 15 bucks and one bulb is good for 3 years … i dont see how it is worth the money

7.3 watts consumption.

Incandescent $31.80 per year
Flourescent $6.89 per year
LED Geo bulb $3.97 per year

 thanks for the info! That is a huge savings if we could get the switch over to LED, in the next 50-100 years energy savings is going to be crucial

i bet you buy carbon credits…
