LED lighting

Well I really like the look of the pure white light of LEDs so I bought a lot of different sizes and started replacing the interior lights. I bought the bulbs from ebay and http://autolumination.com/

Here is a list of bulbs which I used to complete the interior:

Map lights:

Puddle Lights and Rear Dome:

Footwell:

I just took a pic to try and show the brightness and color (sorry for the crappy quality but it was raining):

I did all of the interior for about $40 including shipping.[/LEFT]

I like the look of LED interiors lighting… a nice clean look over the yellow incandescent bulbs.

I did this in my trailblazer a few years ago. Its a really cheap & simple mod, but it makes everything much cleaner.

Plus, they have almost no current draw by comparison… not that this adds up to much in auto use, unless you leave your int lights on often

yea they do add a nice little fashion and its super heap and easy to do, did it for a bunch of my friends

What is cool is that the technology continues to expand and prices continue to drop.

I just bought a couple of these for exterior

I just need to find someone willing to help install the headlight corners. It is very tough without a lift.
Maybe I will have Don help me out next time I am home.

Damn that seems pretty kinda bright. I don’t know how much I’d like that when I need to find something driving down a dark road.

I think I’m going to do this in my car. I love how clean(white) and bright these lights are.

a buddy of mine is the engineer of razorlite
its the stuff on the motorola razor between the keys
on the roof of the cab in that show cash cab on discovery
the suit of ironman in the new movie
and all over displays and such

its a flat film that lights up you can cut it bend it poke holes through it build it into fiberglass and it can take a beating it isnt damaged from weight you could park a car on it and not do any damage

it uses just about the same amount of power as an led and comes in all kinds of shapes
the downfall is its expensive

and the parent company

That is fucking awesome.
and I always thought the ceiling in the cash cab was computer animated!

Looks just like EL to me.

like the look so i could replace my exterior lights also?
dash lights?

Yeah, they make almost all replacements
I already did the license plate bulbs and want to do the city lights and maybe some amber turn signals.

The map lights are not nearly as bright (when compared to the footwells) and pretty directional, but if someone turned the rear dome on it be distracting.

I just bought $650 worth of LED lights. (not for my car though)

If you are doing LED lighting in the house that is really cool.

My parents did it in the crown molding in the family room and it came out nice.

Now I just need to buy a house to do cool projects. I am running out of warranty safe mods.

^Yeah, like I said in other threads LED is the way of the future imho.
They are expensive right now but they have dropped in price considerably already.
Like any “new” technology they will get better and cheaper with time.
I bought the same lights that I bought a year ago and they were cheaper and brighter.

With home lighting too, I’m sure the initial cost will pay for itself through and through in lower energy bills.

still be much better off with compact fluorescent

looks pretty cool though

If you like mercury(poison) in your house.:stuck_out_tongue:

Fuck it, do this!!!
