You can call engineering reliability into something BS and although it’s true most car enthusiasts take care of their stuff, most of the general public does not.

It also takes more talent and foresight to be able to incorporate things into the design that make the machine easier to service, less susceptible to breakdown, sturdier overall, without incurring an unreasonable purchase price or negatively impacting manufacture-ability.

I think that Toyota manages to do all of this pretty well.
