do you pay them on time by filling out the paperwork or do you wait till they bill you?
which taxes? Local Earned income, or real estate taxes?
I pay the earned income quarterly, otherwise there is a penalty and interest that accrues…
loaded question… most locals i’ve done want them quarterly, to which i deny and pay the penalty, but i pay them on time as far as the year end locals.
I pay them quarterly, using the forms they give you at the beginning of the year. Frankly I only do that because the wife informs me to…otherwise I’d forget entirely. UPMC doesn’t take it out for me.
I pay my property taxes long before I get the bill, but my local wage taxes usually get procrastinated on.
Local wage I pay quarterly… damn you PGH, 3% ftl.
Pay taxes? bwahhahahahaha
move to florida, no local or state!
X2 I pay at the end of the year and the penalty is like 40 bucks. I usually just take the local payment out of my federal return since I have that done before the middle of february. It is funny because they make the penalty all complicated and I decided to just call them and say hey this is what I owe, how much is the penalty and they figure it out and give it to you over the phone. I started doing this after they nabbed me 3 years ago and I sent in my final with the full amount minus the penalty and they said it wouldn’t be accepted till I paid it. I laughed at what the penalty was.
…taken out in my pay.
Taken out in pay.
Pay on time, always.
taken out of my pay
First year at my new house, wife and I totally blew it an missed the quarterlys. Had to pay the 1% penalty and it added up to a lot. We try to keep up with it now. Never got any letters from them or anything so I kind of wonder if I could have gotten away with not adding the penalty in myself. Did they care enough to send me a bill? Maybe I will give it a try this year.
I play ignorant until they come visit me in person…
3%, I thought it was 1%?? or is that EI
1% earned income for the city and 2% earned income for the schools
my wife does all the bills so I have no clue
better watch out. some employers take out for the wrong community. my girlfriend’s employer has been taking out for jefferson hills and she lives in castle shannon for the past several years. she told them to change it and they said the “cant”
the post office doesnt take out for local, so it is dependent upon you to pay them.
