Looking for a device..

I was curious to know if any one knew of a device that would allow me to grab a hex color of anything i would point it at.

Example:
Lets say i am doing a web site for a resturant… and the resturant has a certin color i would like to use on this web site… So there forth does any one know of a device … that will alow me to lets say… point it against this wall or put it up against the wall… it will read the color and get the hex code for this color.

A camera?

jk

sure, but they aren’t cheap

you could use paint shop pro to capture the image quickly and just grab the color

Color Cue 2

PS hex = RGB. Pantone (process) is 4-color aka CYMK (additive vs subtractive color) - so it won’t be a perfect match, but then again web design is kinda a “close enough” medium, considering there’s no guarantee of anything but that the end-user will probably NOT have a properly calibrated monitor… you’re better off asking the client “who did the logo / art, what are the PMS colors” anyway.

perfect that will do.

thank you.
