Looking for a Nova II

Looking for a Nova II not too specific on year as I like ll of the but favor the earlier.

I am open to anything(willing to travel) and am willing to pay up for one that does not need body work. Updates that are attractive:

  • Disc Brakes
  • Updated steering
  • Ford 9" rear setup
  • Complete interior

Yes I fully intend on swapping this but I would also like one ready to cruise so I can decide when I feel like building it.

Price probably no more then 20k but if you think it is worth more I will take a look.

Thanks!

Now you’re talking, son. By earlier you mean 66-67?

Rip this engine out and sell it off for your LSx goodies.

Earlier I mean 63-64

I have seen that one. Doesn’t look bad but I would pay a little more for something more cruiser like.

Here is an example of one I called on. Guy said he would do 18k but im not jumping on it for that price.

Are you close to the one posted? It isn’t bad but id likely lowball him for it without motor.

The Dansville car? Not really “close” to him, he’s the other side of ROC. But if you’re more into the earliest cars (which aren’t done as much as the 66-67 and 68-on gens, so they’re cooler) I’ll keep an eye out, they’re starting to appear again.

you should buy my dads  although it is no cruiser

Yeah they are coming around again. I have always wanted one…so now is the time before they are all either haggard or a million bux. Have any opinion about that black one I posted?

Cruiser only!

Body and interior look ok from the outside, I’d be more interested in underneath and how the chassis/unibody is. Floorboards, especially in the front corners, as well as the corners of the cowl are known rot areas.

18k seems high, but might be worth it if the whole thing is solid and the body is not a 10 footer.

Try to get a few pics of where the frame is meeting up with the floorboards (pretty sure these were body-on-frame cars), a shot or two of the shock mounts, and be wary of fresh-looking undercoat. When I was looking for my Mustang I made certain sellers could provide some underbody pics, mid-sixties cars didn’t have the steel or underbody protection techniques that have become standard in the last 15-20 years.

That said, black shows all flaws, and the bodywork on that car looks pretty straight. Interior is in great condition, (recovering seats gets pricy quick), . No apparent gotchas although that shifter mount looks a little homebrewed and I’m always a little cautious when I see snubber bars.

It’s got your 9" Ford and those 4 wheel discs. You gonna bid on it? I think it’s a great car for @ $13-15K, $18K is a stretch but not ridiculous.

I called and didn’t bid when he said 18k was his bottom price. I basically told him my offer was 12k and ill take it no hassle but he wasn’t having it. He claimed the floors were all good and the only issue spots were replaced when the car was restored a few years back. Hopefully something local pops up. I am in no rush

Keep an eye on it. If you bought it I could probably be convinced to go look at the damn thing with you.

Lets go! He seemed really firm on 18k. If it was a local car and I could go see that everything was done right i would pay that. However I am sure that is not the case. Is that motor and msd, etc worth anything? I would prob keep the trans/rear setup and put a stockish ls1 in it for now. The guy also didn’t know too much about it since he didn’t build it. I am not sue what kit was used for the disc conversion, what drop spindles, what steering configuration, etc Also is it common to do a 9" and not do a 4 link style setup on these?

You can call up Currie and get a 9" that will literally bolt right up to the car; Only extra thing you’ll need is a custom driveshaft.

I know that I just assumed more people went to the 4 link setups I suppose but it is more work. Damn 9"is expensive hence wanting one already done. So is the disc conversions and steering stuff. Not like a fortune but the car having those 3 and paint makes it very attractive but I really wish the guy had more details about the parts used.

Been contemplating looking for a 66/67 Nova or a 66 Chevelle. Fun cars. They have been holding their value
Not many early year Chevy IIs out there.

I want this one.

Nice finds guys and keep them coming.

I am going to call on the one in ransomville. The ebay ended on the first one I liked so I am going to call him again and see if he will do 13k maybe. As you see by the price of ones that need complete resto that is why I am willing to pay another 8-10k for a nice cruiser if possible. Paint/9"/disc’updated steering would bring the 5k car to 15k in a hurry and not even have a good trans/motor yet!

drew … call me asap … a buddy of mine just brought one back from NC

derrick … 310-9347

I got your voicemail…I called you back. Can’t wait to hear from you tomorrow! Can’t wait for the details!!!

That is the car Derrick pointed me to. Talked to the owner earlier. Have to think about it because while it does seem like a great cruiser and resto canidate but to save time/energy I still would prefer a more comlpeted car that I can just put an lsx into if/when I feel like it. I really think that especially if I wait till the offseason I can get something really nice for ~15k but who knows. I might still go look at this one and bring it home. Deff not a bad deal at all.
