I have a Kohler home generator that is permanently installed in my home (backyard). It worked fine when we bought the house in 2013. A year or two ago, it stopped automatically turning on when power went out. I thought it could have been a mechanical issue, so I did a tune up on the gas motor in the spring, and it fired up no problem when I flipped the switch on the generator itself to “run”. However, the generator still will not automatically turn on and take over when power gets knocked out in the 'hood.
Anyone work on this stuff, or interested in taking a look, before I get a hold of the local rep? Am I missing something easy? Transfer switch?
We have a brand new Honda generator that we bought after the October storm. Outside of being started periodically, it has never been used, still looks like the day we bought it…if you’re interested, we’d sell it…
Joe, that’s a kind offer, but our generator runs perfectly. I think it’s a controls issue. You should throw it up on here in the classifieds - October Storm was 10 years ago today. Snow is not far away
