Doesnt surprise me… my great dane is as tall as me when she stands up on her back legs and im 6’3
They are such beautiful and tame dogs. I used to own one, a blue dane, named Boreaguard(pronounced bow-ree-guard). Only thing that sucks about them is that they don’t live too long due to their size and small hearts.
One day I will own a fire dane. So rare.

Danes are AMAZING dogs. I really really wanted to get one before we got our Lab/Setter mix but the wife while she loves them was afraid it would be much to big and was really concerned about the life expectancy, like myself and her, we got Polly for my daughter when she was around 8 months pregnant. We both had dogs we grew up with that were our best friends and wanted one for Alana.

Great Danes are awesome dogs, but as Adam H said, they don’t live very long. 
had a great dane when i lived in va. beach…“jordi” she was quite the pita when you were drunk always knocked me on my ass when i was tipsy…fun dog tho
