I picked up a 10 month old German Shepard/Lab mix from the shelter. Came pre-named ‘Beal’. He isn’t half bad so far… learned ‘sit’ in about an hour. I figure another few hours and he’ll be getting me beers
On a side note, these pictures were taken with a Leica C3-Lux… amazing little point & shoot camera that takes HD Video… look it up
one time i delivered food to a house, everyone was in the backyard (they left me a note on the front door haha) so i walked around back. the people saw me, greeted me, opened the gate. 2 HUGE german shepards started walking towards me. the dogs came up and were sniffing, not barking, just seeing what up. it was ok bc i love dogs…
i get back to the pizza place, the people called- their pizza was fucked up. the kid making it was stoned and forgot to put pepperoni on it or some shit, so i have to go back.
get to the house with the new za, knowing theyre in the back yard i just open the gate and let myself in, i should have known better- these 2 dogs shortly informed me that what i had just done WAS NOT COOL! they ran at me barking like crazy, i was like o dip…
luckily the owner came to my rescue quickly and calmed them down, it was rather scary, fucking things were huge
and then as i was walking to my car almostbrett pulled over his truck and threw a can of keystone light at me. true story
lol… I did get a bunch of 'em… then I came to find out that the management community I live in has ‘stations’ where they have bags and a garbage to put it in… pretty cool.
Jay - that’s a BIG ass dog! I don’t think mine will get toooo big. How long before they are full grown?
Jam - you know they just wanted the pepperoni… you should have showed them you sausage
Yeah Jam, Shepherds are great as long as they get the OK from the master. Mine put an insurance adjuster over the fence into my neighbors yard after I specifically told him on the phone to wait until I got there to go in the back yard because “my large German Shepherd was out and won’t like a stranger poking around the house when no one was home”. Idiot. Same dog was nothing but tail wags when I introduced him to the insurance guy.
Took Max about a year and a half to reach full height/length I think and another year to fill out a bit. He’s still pretty lean at 90-95 lbs but I certainly wouldn’t want to fuck with him. I grew up with a lab/shepherd mix and they make really great dogs. Does yours have webbed toes (a lab trait)? Probably not because he looks more shepherd than lab while my old dog looked more lab than shepherd and had webbed feet.
Dogs are great. Nice shepherd.
I have a yellow lab/australian shepherd/german shepherd/great dane. He just turned 2. He’s really tall and about 100 lbs. The vet says he’ll still fill out a lot.
nice dog. any german shepard or shepard mix is good in my book. jays, nice dog as well. i have a female named “maxie”. she is about 120 lbs, extremely stocky ~ father was in training for police dog. acts just the same, can put on quite a scare and extremely protective but is really the biggest baby.
i suggest taking that dog out to park or around the block as well to get more adjusted to people if shes really protective/a barker.
