MBC vs. EBC - advantages of pwm boost control

who changed the thread title?

the new demon is absolutely awesome, however many of these guys who build hondas are on a small budget. The demon is actually really cheap for everything you’re getting but still 5x the price of traditional chipping and tuning. Most people don’t do their own tuning so what’s the point for them to have a such a capable piece of equiptment?

As for the pwm control solenoid, yes it’s fantastic and very inexpensive.

i understand that, and its very true, but i always try to talk my friends into atleast getting tuned with neptune (tuner version) so they can have these capabilities and its only 100 more (for neptune license) and have the tuner set up 2 maps , one for high boost and one for low boost so all they have to do is set up a switch like the a/c button

the extra 160-200 dollars is absolutely worth it especially for any turbo b series (hell even d series with their great tq numbers)

ya hallman mbc’s are great, probably one of the best mbc you can buy

on that note i have never had an electronic solenoid fail on me in the past 6 years of working on/owning a boosted car

this is what i want to do with my tune. Whatever power level i’m at, i don’t want to constantly be at 400wheel, or 450wheel, or even 350wheel. i’d rather have something that i can enjoy and will be streetable while still being fairly quick. and most importantly, reliable.

i don’t want to constantly have to shift under 3500-4k, and if i’m building boost in a 400hp fwd car, there’s going to be traction issues, which is no fun daily driving on the street

this will allow to have that option to flip the switch when I “need to”.

eric, you have the option of using a “two-timer” and still use crome. And the plus side is, the two-timer is only $30.

i know, i think nick’s crx has the option to switch between 2 tunes, but i think it’s a race gas and a 93oct tune, he just doesnt have the second map. i believe he’s on crome or crome pro or something

i also like the boost by gear feature, it seems to make a lot more sense for a street car

i still have to browse the forums more to see what features are available specific to honda tuning software

boost by gear is a necessity in a fwd car that produces over 300whp imho… the del sol that was at dyno day at STM has boost by gear1-3 gear is at “low boost” which for him his wastegate spring is way too big(1bar) which his “low boost” is 402whp… his “high boost” is set at 434whp… this is controlled with a PWM also…when i get to my actual build i want to do i know i will have a PWM to control my boost
