Chris McCarty brought his car in to us at STM on a stock turbo making about 270 hp. Knowing our reputation with the stock-block Ricer, he decided to get what he safely can out of his own stock motor…

I’m sure I’m missing some things, but you can see from the pictures what’s generally in there.
On the dyno we tuned his car to 30 psi on C-16 and saw 440 HP and 366 TQ:
The very next night, we head out to the 1/4 mile track here outside of Rochester at NYIRP.
With the boost turned down to 27 psi, first pass was an 11.7, second pass we saw the 11.1 @ 126 {thumbup}
Clutch was slipping, tires were spinning and that’s enough to be kicked out on the first time at the track.
Not to be that guy but if it was a “fraction” of what other shops charge and I as a shop owner could do that price to all clients I would be telling everyone to get the most business I could
but this is not buying a can of soup. every solution is custom and the cost in parts will vary over time. it’s not like he installed a standard kit with all parts included and one flat price for labor.
chris told me what it put down, then he mentioned how he was looking for a place to get the gas, i didnt know he only had a race gas tune untill he said he decided he wanted a pump gas tune also
nice numbers, nice car, nice setup
do evo’s not benefit from an electronic controller for speed based boost? or is the manual sufficient?
curiosity is not starting shit. it’s more of a “wow, that’s fast, i wonder how much it costs to start from stock and end with those numbers”
especially when they boast how cheap they did it for.
it’s been dropped.
so…
again, impressive results.
