Military Appreciation Thread

the flight deck is now made up of F/A18Cs, F/A18E/F super hornets, E/A18G Growlers. USN phased out the Prowler, some Marine units have them. The E-2C Hawkeye exists still, as well has the normal SH-60’s

try that.

Yeah works now. Whats the story on that? Looks gnarly.

After Pakistan shut their boarder all the fuel convoys ran through my area. Before I got there 3 tankers were hit with RPGs and SAF destroying them in an S curve surrounded by mountains. Technically the independent - Afghan security companies are responsible for removing the disabled vehicles from the road but insurgents began using the obstacles to their advantage, planting IEDs on them and using the slowed traffic to launch further attacks so we spent a few weeks clearing the mountains and disrupting the ambushes before getting a couple of our mechanics and their armored wrecker to come remove them from the road. I think we removed 8 trucks along my stretch of road.

You are the man, couldn’t imagine being in that dirt bowl

Thats absolutely crazy. ^

Oh man what I would do to own that P51. f16 and f15 meh, a10 is cool, but old WW2 prop warbirds are epic.

Unreal. Not to make light of the situation, but looks like real life Roadwarrior aftermath.

F4U! One of the most BA planes ever I think. The guy I bought my house from told me storys about flying them, and how unpredictable they could be. He left me the two nice framed pics in the garage, one of a P51 and one of F4U.

You guys got any good advice for me… Leaving for boot may 28 and soi after that… Any good tips?

yes sir and yes maam… yes drill sergeant. get used to long days and little to no sleep. if you havent already start training. push ups situp and running. stay under the radar and dont be a shitbag. do whats right, not what your buddy says. do whats asked nothing more nothing less, this applies for basic.

what are you going in for?

Don’t be a shit bag, it’s easy enough.

Corsair is a nice plane. If were going to get into navy deck birds then I’d probably take an F8F even though they came way way late in the war. picture of that P51 framed thing you have? Wanna sell it?

Infantry… My pft is 290 just got to work on my running a bit more… I appreciate the advice man!

Marines?

Just keep your mouth shut unless spoken too and do what you are told as fast as you can. Thats honestly the best way to get through without being singled out. And its yes/no sir, you shouldn’t come across any females while at Parris Island so don’t worry about that. NEVER say “I” it’s always “this recruit” and don’t ever call your drill instructors by their rank.

Oh and when its time for chow, always take 2 slices of bread if you can. Make whatever you are eating a sandwich its the most efficient way to eat when you literally have seconds to do so.

At least you picked the perfect job, definitely don’t be a shit bag and when you get to your unit listen to everything your leadership has to say. When are you leaving for benning. And I’m an 11b by the way.

Yah marines… Thanks for the info fellas… Not real nervous just a bit anxious… If you can think of anything else guys let me know any shit helps!
