This hasn’t hit the news yet but probably will soon. She’s the mother of one of my wife’s coworkers. Figured I’d post it here for her.

Woman dead after going over the Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO (WIVB) - Rescuers have pulled to shore the body of a woman who went over the Horseshoe Falls.

Authorities say numerous tourists saw the woman in the rapids above the Falls in the area of Dufferin Islands around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and called police. Witnesses on the Maid of the Mist tell News 4 rescuers were on the scene as the woman neared the Falls and were forced to watch helplessly as she plummeted over them. They say she appeared to be alive at the time she went over the Falls. The Maid of the Mist dispatched a boat to try and save the woman. But when rescuers reached her in the river below, she was dead.

Foul play is not suspected, and the identity of the woman, who witnesses say was in her 30’s, has not yet been determined by officials.

Yikes. I didn’t think they did missing persons after 24 hours? I thought it was longer than that before they post it.

I’m guessing no, since they probably would have connected the dots by now if it was.

I’m guessing not either, as the missing person is 53 and the Falls floater was in her 30s… according to the article.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Cheektowaga Police report that Jeanne Piacente, 53, has been located.

She went missing early Tuesday morning, in the Town of Cheektowaga.

Piacente was found in good condition and has been reunited with her family.

I still haven’t heard a cause for disappearance. Any info? I thought the news said she didn’t have any mental or medical problems either.

Based on the news saying she was found healthy and that “it was now a family matter” I’m guessing she just got sick of her family and bailed.
