Paving America mentioned that US official visited Germany in the thirties to see the Autobahn and soon after built the first thruway/expressway in the USA called the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Then in the 1940s when the US was in Germany, Germany destroyed parts of their Autobahn to slow US troops.:biglaugh:
IIRC the Autobahn is a Hitler invention.
yea…and how it sucks now because its so congested most of the time
kinda. there were a lot of engineers that developed it. he just made sure it happened. people also credit him for “inventing” the the KDf Wagen (VW Beetle) but it was Dr. Ferdinand Porsche’s project that was funded by the nazis
