Earlier this month I went to Germany for the final race of the FSAE season. I flew into Munich, rented a motorcycle, drove down through Austria quick, then I rode to Erlangen where some of the guys were testing with another team. After hanging out there for a couple days I went up to the Nurburgring then finally back to Munich. I then took a train to meet up with the team in Heidelberg for the race.
Random lake in Austria: http://goo.gl/maps/5J9wO I Highly recommend driving this road if you ever get the chance. Beautiful scenery and the road is very fun
Yea it was awesome. If I were to ever do it again I would probably convince someone else to rent a bike too so I wasn’t solo for days on end and also pick destinations that were closer together. I didn’t make any side trips, mostly due to time crunch and poor planning. I knew I wanted to get to the BMW plant and Nurburgring, the Austrian adventure was suggested by the guy I rented the bike from as I wasn’t sure what to do my first day.
Next year I am going to rent a car, at least for a couple days. I’d want to get an e46 so I can drive ‘my’ car in Germany but I doubt anyone rents cars that old. lol.
