ok, been having problems with adware being a total PITA, ad-aware and spybot won’t clean it off and i’m pretty sure IE is hijacked. what i’m more concerned about is our email accounts can’t connect to the server (outlook express) this is the error that i get.
The connection to the server has failed. Account: ‘mail.comcast.net’, Server: ‘mail.comcast.net’, Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
help me out!!
join this forumn and post your problem…it works ask disk starbucks
also, forgot to mention that i let my little sister use the computer while i was on my honeymoon and i have no idea what the hell she did to it.
Do you have XP? If you do did you download the new service pack 2? If so that may explain the problems with your outlook.
I;m delaying download on the SP2 due to all the programs on the DOOM list. You would think that the idiots at microsoft would get their shit together…
so… what is the issue?
in outlook, under accounts, make sure that your username / password is saved properly.
make sure the pop3 accounts is : mail.comcast.net
mase sure the outgoing is: smtp.comcast.net
as far as IE… i would register another username on your PC… log in (make an admin) clean the PC WITHOUT CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET / OR EVEN DOUBLE CLICKING ON IE OR AN IE APP!!! … this way nothing will of started an open process or service…
basicallly, you got owned by the interweb… sucks.
What makes you think it was hijacked.? What isthe PC doing? Opening to a different page? Throwing up banners / ads? More info please… =)
