I also bought 2 new wheels and mounted 2 winter tires on the car, I will post pics later. They are the same as the drag wheels but these are 17" and the offset is different. They are tucked way in the fenderwell and the tires are 1" shorter so it looks sweet lol (not really). The snow tires are from the old hhr and are not as tall but they work good enough for the little bit of driving i will be doing this winter. The spedometer will be 3mph off which is no big deal. I will post pics when the car is not so dirty lol.
Here are some snow tires/wheels for the hhr, bought them in pittsburgh a few weeks back. The finish on the wheels was peeling like crazy so i took a wire brush to them and some sandpaper and threw on some metalcast smoke paint and a bunch of clear coat. Good enough for $250.
Winter setup taken with my cellphone this evening:
my new 17" rear wheels with snow tires, they are about 1.2’ shorter and a horrible offset but hey they were only $55 each shipped brand new lol. I made the srt6 center cap stickers on my computer, printed them on photo paper, clear coated and attached with liquid gasket.
My goal with the car was to be the fastest with the least mods and to hit 11.99 this year.
The car made the 500+ mile round trip without a hitch
The track prep was amazing, I was launching harder and harder on each run and the car was doing better and better each time. I have no doubt I could have ran a little quicker with one more run but it was getting late and I had to make the 250+ mile drive home so I called it a day. I was thrilled with my times though.
Had a great time! I passed a Lotus Esprit several times, an Audi (lapped him), a Conquest (lapped him) and a few other cars. I am so proud of how well my car did and the brakes on this thing are amazing, they did not fade a bit the entire time on the track. After the track time I had the classroom instructor and a driving instructor come up to me and shake my hand and tell me “that was some great driving, you and that crossfire were passing everyone on the track”. Then they interviewed me on the intercom about the track time and asked a lot of questions about my car which was pretty cool.
Later that day I ran at the flashlight drags, the first one was against a old 66 corvette which was great but I did not get it on video . (I won that one). After winning 5 more in a row (one ended with a ricer flyby by a discouraged kid in an evo) I decided to call it a day since my poor tires were down about 1/2 their tread they had earlier that day.
Talk about a lot of fun, I plan to go back several more times this summer.
We then got to ride with a Grand Am cup professional race driver which was wild.
Later that night we hit up the fast karts they have there on a nice track, that was really fun.
Sunday when I was leaving there was a lambo there getting ready to run on the roadcourse but I did not get to see him run
Here are a few vids and photos, more photos will be posted in a day or so when i have time to post them up.
Everyone there was great and the track is fantastic, if anyone lives within driving distance I highly reccomend going there.
Photos from this weekend and a short vid showing my new nitrous setup for this year:
detailed engine bay, took a brillo pad to the IM’s and valve covers and they turned out pretty nice. Will finish them up later. Installed rear accent facia panels.
