Score, the rice revolution is back and ready for the domestic side.

On a more serious note it’s interesting to see them with a more “car-like” shape.

the huge wing was INVENTED by the domestics, imports just carried through with it. :gotme:

As long as 90% of their races are turning left CRASHCAR will still not be on my tv. I love how the fans are bithching up a storm cause these cars are slower and safer. Way to back your drivers nascar fans!! They just want another reason to have a bumper sticker with numbers and wings on it and a cool saying like jesus needed a driver.

I can’t wait to see the Monte Carlo SS NASCAR Edition with a lip and trunk spoiler.

your right, look at the super bird (i think that is what it was called). But I like the COT, it should be a nice change.

Hell yeah that was a fuggin huge wing! Those cars go for a shitload of money too. I still can’t imagin that thing providing any downforce though. The width of the thing was only a couple inches.

There is no Monte Carlo in NASCAR anymore.

And fuck NASCAR.

i’m thinking the wing also supplied some degree of lateral stabilization to prevent it from getting squirley. But yes, i can’t imagine it even compares to the cars of today.

Wrong. The standard non-COT 2007 race car from Chevy is the Monte Carlo. It will run 20 races this season.

Their COT is the Impala. It wil run 16 races starting with Bristol in a few weeks.

How is it that you love white trash cars, but hate the epitome of white trash sporting with said cars?

The Car of Tomorrow (COT) has been in the works for about 5 years to address a couple different issues.

  • Safety of the drivers
  • Reduce operational costs of the race teamsFor safety, the drivers seat is moved a few inches towards the center of the car. There is also a larger window opening for them to get out faster in an emergency.

To reduce operational costs, the COT was designed to allow teams to make simple spoiler or valence changes to go from a road/short track to a Super Speedway. Currently, each major team has anywhere from 12-20 cars in their stable to cover every type of track. Some with giant brakes and big openings for brake/radiator cooling and other cars that are smooth and shaped like a bullet for aero. With the COT, teams will be able to house less vehicles, and in the long run reduce costs.

Yes, the concensus from the fans is that the cars are ugly and slow, but given some time, the race teams will have these cars seeing higher and higher speeds. Especially, if they are proven to be significantly safer vehicles. When I first saw a prototype COT at Roush back in May of 2006, I thought it was hideous. Since then, it has grown on me a bit.

Change is good.
