Need to find RCA to VGA adapter locally.

As the title stated! I’m trying to find a RCA to VGA adapter locally. Went to RadioShack but the don’t have it. Anyone knows any place that sell them locally please let me know. Thank you.

Patrick

Need it right away? Cheapest option is to order online.

Kinda need it right away. I’m setting up a security camera system and the video output from the DVR is BNC and RCA. My computer LCD monitor has only VGA connection.

if you don’t have time to buy online, you might just be better off buying a 13" used TV from craigslist for $20 to monitor with.

(or use a TV for temp until monoprice can ship you one for cheap.

That’s what I will be doing if I can’t find one locally. Thanks. It’s seems to have mostly vga to rca adapters…not the other way aroung?

wat

I’m only 85% confident, but I think it’s bi-directional so VGA to RCA = RCA to VGA.

you might also need a female to female RCA to wire it up.

I think his issue is needing an RCA to a female VGA end and he is probably only finding RCA to Male VGA end.

see the last part of what you just quoted.

It’s hard to explain without sounding wordy but You are talking about the RCA end, I am talking about the VGA side. If he is hooking it up to a monitor he needs the female side of the VGA and he is probably only finding adapters with the Male side.

Those VGA to RCA is only working 1-way. It’s for video output from your video card of the computer’s VGA hooking up to a RCA to a TV or other devices and will not work in reverse.

I know I need to get a gender switch, but i don’t know if it works like I said in the above post.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work

I do see what you’re saying about the VGA/VGA adapter, that’s an obvious one if needed so I didn’t bother to say anything.

looks like what you need is not cheap:

IMPORTANT, Please READ! Before Buying.
This item is a VGA VIDEO Card to S. Video or Composite TV Adapter Cable.
Use it to connect the video card on your computer to a TV input. Your video card MUST be able to support s-Video or Composite out through it’s VGA port. This is known as a TV out function. If you don’t know if your video card can do this, then call the card manufacturer and ask them “Does my video card support S-Video or Composite Video out through its VGA port?” If it does, then buy this adapter. If not, then use Product # 4724 http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=4724

Connector: VGA(HD15) Male to S-Video Female and RCA(Composite) Jack
Cable: UL 2919 Coaxial Low Voltage Cable

(*)It will work with VGA cards that have TV-Out function capability through the VGA connector.
Check your Video Card manual or manufacturer to make sure that your VGA card has TV-Out function capability.

IMPORTANT: THIS ADAPTER WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT CONVERT AN S-VIDEO OR COMPOSITE VIDEO SIGNAL TO VGA. IT WON"T WORK BACKWARDS. YOU CAN NOT USE IT TO DRIVE A VGA COMPUTER MONITOR WITH A CONSUMER ELECTRONICS DEVICE SUCH AS A DVD PLAYER OR VCR.
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH NETBOOKS OR ANY CURRENT GRAPHIC CHIPSET.

Interesting, figures things get complicated for VGA ports. Looks like you are SOL for now other than that $80 box theblue posted

it’s probably cheaper to just buy a VGA security camera.

I bought a 4 camera package with DVR from Q-See. Just need hooking it up to a monitor so I can run the setup. I guess I have to buy that converter box from Monoprice for $27. Thanks guys for your inputs.
