New NSX Nurburgring time

From Winding Road:
Honda CEO Takeo Fukui has said that he’d like the new NSX to run the Nürburgring faster than the media-darling Nissan GT-R. While Honda hasn’t released any data as yet about the NSX mule’s recent trip to the legendary circuit, some spy photographers have taken it upon themselves to make an unofficial survey of the car’s lap times.

The result? The spies clocked the NSX at a lap time of 7 minutes and 37 seconds, or about 8 seconds slower than the GT-R’s official time of 7 minutes and 29 seconds. A bit off the pace then, but still not bad considering the time, effort, and development that went into getting the GT-R around at that pace. Given consistent reports of Honda having achieved around 550 horsepower from the 5.5-liter V-10 at the heart of the NSX, we think that the new kid on the block might still have something to say. Stay tuned.

"The Nissan GT-R set a production class-record with a time of 7:29 in full production form. That’s a hot lap with no one else on the track. The new NSX, in prototype form, ran a time merely 8 seconds slower in traffic. That’s damn fast. If all the speculation and hyperbole holds true, I’m betting this thing can break the 7:20 mark on an empty-track hot lap. That should be enough to stave off the GT-R SpecV and even the ZR1.

I know, there’s been a lot of criticism regarding all the hype about 'ring times, but damn. It’s a good comparison of a car’s abilities, and it’s a hell of a lot more interesting than 0-60 times and lateral acceleration. "

Plus, it looks pretty. :lol

Keep in mind that there was a pssenger, the aerodynamic killing carcover, and was timed during an open track day so there was traffic.

i agree. 0-60 or just a straight line doesnt really tell much about a vehicle.

this would be the car I get rid of the s2k for. It sounds amazing as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0OTEZDAb9c&feature=related
