looks great, but i have a couple of (?). (not a big shock there)

 1. has anyone ever made a “spliter” for the DP. say like two 1.5 pipes?
 2. make an one cut out to the fender well.
what? I don’t know what you’re talking about…

I had this setup on my 240:

The DP split, there was an E-cutout that opened up a front dumptube for the exhaust near the front wheel. When it was closed, exhaust went out the rear. The WG was always dumped.

 i think you got that a little backwards.

Ok, let me correct myself, (insert newborn not sleeping jokes) Do you think you have enough room to split off the turbo and run two 1.75 inch down pipes? I know you are not going to do it but just a thought.

and not run them over the tranny? perhaps, but it would be annoyingly tight… and i’d rather keep the exhaust on the passenger side…

I actually thought about this, but ruled it out, because I think this is simpler. I had to build a tunnel anyway. I also considered using ovalized tubing to slip by the steering shaft, but that was going to be a PITA and substantially more expensive.

However, 2 X 1.75ID is only 4.81 in^2, VS 7.06 for 1 X 3ID…

In order to simply match the CS area of a 3", you’d need a pair of 2.06 ID pipes.

i understand, i was also think about keeping the egts down.

If you already have the dp running over the tranny and youve done it like that before on a 240 why would you switch its route?

Edit: saw that youd rather keep it the way it is…

Still on track for Carlisle? Looking proper

I REALLLY hope so… but honestly… I don’t know. A lot to do and i have to go out of town a few times in the next 2 months.

That exhaust should be fine. I was talking to Brent about heat wrap before, and Jake was using some stuff on a sport bike that you could put your hand on the wrap, and it would be cool to the touch. So, you will definitely be able to come up with something, to avoid any heating issues.

Or… you could just be awesome, and run a 5" dump out of the hood

Also, just looking at this, the interior is obviously going to be pretty custom when you’re all done with it. Do you plan on carpeting it, or are you just going to paint it and leave it race car style? I would be curious to see how the interior comes out.

I will do a VERY basic carpeting job… I am not too worried about temps in the cabin.

Cant wait to see it. Looking at your attention to detail on the rest of the project, i’d imagine that even a bare minimum carpet job will still be done well.

I hate doing things twice. Everything will be done properly, even if it takes a little longer.

To bad you use heat wrap to keep heat off of things, aka wrap it around things you don’t want to get hot. Performance does and always will win over styling, aka the enzo, ugly as shit but it performs.
you have no idea what heat wrap does do you. exhaust wrap is wrapped on the pipe to keep the pipe and exhaust hot and everything around the pipe cool

next time you come in here like a smart ass, at least know the facts

+1

Uhm wrap is used as a thermal barrier, you can use it to

a)keep heat in hot things
b)keep heat out of cool things

since energy is going from areas of high potential to low potential

http://www.centuryperformance.com/heatwraps.asp

THE FACTS:

* Header wraps are designed to keep the heat in the header to improve scavenging of the cylinders. Keeping the heat in the header allows the exhaust speed to remain high. (the right idea)

i dont think he needs to worry about water being that high in the engine bay. and its stainless steel metal. lets base all out thoughts on someones opinion on the internet. its the internet so everything must be true

i never said to not coat it. i just said the white is ugly and id use a different coat and i would also wrap it where it goes into the cabin
