Hey I tried searching on this topic but came up with no info. Is it illegal to remove your fender liners and not run any at all? I remember reading something about that but couldn’t seem to find it again (or maybe i remember incorrectly)
If it is illegal has anyone here actually been ticketed/harassed for it?
Are they needed to pass a safety?
What about you guys with modified fenders (rolled, pulled, fiberglass etc)? you guys manage to keep your fender liners?
Im pretty sure its illegal, however mine broke loose on the higway and burned off against my tire the other day…so im just running no fenderliner.
It’s only illegal to have the wheel showing (no fender liner + no fender) You can do 1 or the other and still have it legal. I’m talking through experience as I went through this when I was doing the bodywork on my fenders.
i have one on and one off on my front… one almost can off (came half off) on highway one night coming home stoned at 2:30am… at first i was like SIHT my tire popped but good thing it was just the inner fender liner… ever since then been to lazy to put it back on. no trouble by cops…
if you noticed, the fender liner covers the metal that’s usually not protected by rustproofing etc.
remove fender liner, drive in winter, or rain for a while
= rust = frame rust = death.
I haven’t had mine all summer, never got any trouble.

mine poped off on the raod and the front was acting like a scoop and the air made it push agest the ground… shooting rocks up infront of the headlight and such… anyway i have like 1/2 a PS fender liner and a whole shit load of undercoating and about 3000 zip ties… no problems yet…

You guys spray the inside of the wheel well with anything? rockerguard? rubberized undercoating?
my last s13’s 1 came off because of a carboard on the road, and i cant remember what happened to the other 1.

my driver’s side came of last summer on the qew heading niagara… road noise?? meh… muffler is still louder i cant tell the difference
fenderliners? mudguards? take all taht crap off before rust to death
