No more boogie board for my hatch * updated new pics x 2*

You keeping your wiper?

No, I’m not going to keep it. I’m also thinking of ditching the 3rd brake light. Also how did you remove the wiper blade? Mine seems to be a single piece.

Those clips holding in the spoiler were a bitch to get out. Took me the better part of an hour.

Anyone know of a good place to get paint mixed? Also a color code for “Aztec” red?

There is a nut holding the wiper arm to the shaft. You need to flip the nut cover up and remove the nut.

Here.

HAhahaha nut cover :E

But seriously, thanks.

I heard you can take in a gas cap cover or headlight cover to NAPA and they can mix a spray bomb for you.

Anyone know if this is true? I just need something to get me by til spring then I’ll get the car re-sprayed.

Well I do know that Canadian Tire sells color matching paint in the automotive section. I was just looking for some stuff you could spray in an air gun. Not a spray paint type.

Take a piece off the body of your car like louis suggested and take it to a paint store like sherwin williams. They will color match it in a can for you rather than a stupid spray bomb.

way better dude, i saw you driving the other day, the car is lookin good!!!

Who, me?

Got to work on filling the holes today. I only had one spoiler hole with surface rust around it. I was going to cut it out but once I dug a little deeper it wasn’t as bad as it looked.

Rust.

After I hit it with a buffing wheel.

After I chased every little pinhole with a rotary file on my die grinder. Lots of good steel left there.

No more 3rd brake light for me! Well at least untill I pick up a red LED strip for the back window.

Almost there. Tommorow I have a bit more welding, some grinding, and alot of sanding to do.

Looking at the last pic I just realised I have something else to shave. I never really noticed the rear window sprayer untill now. Damnit!!! Oh well I’ll just get it done when the roof is painted black.

It’s too bad shaving the antenna would be so much work for you.

Any change you would want to shave me wiper, sprayer and brake light in the future? I had it done on my old hatch with the spoiler, but when i took the spoiler off, I realized the holes and dents were too much to fix. I’m getting really sick of the faded flat black hatch with all that crap on it.

I don’t know man, it’s alot of work. I’m glad I’m doing it for the experience, but I think starting with a spoilerless hatch and just shaving the light would save ALOT of time.

I got the spoilerless hatch already. All I need is the wiper, sprayer and light shaved. If not, thats cool, I know a few other welders.

"Scuse the shitty camera phone quality. She’s being primed. :E

I see. We could probably work something out if all you need is to get the metal work done. That was easy compared to getting everything smooth.

Other welders? I hear you know Rod. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh and here’s some new pics of my bitch… SEXY!!! The hatch is in wetsanded primer right now, paint is going on in the morning. Couldn’t resist putting on some rims I had lying around on for some pics. I fell in love with my car again tonight.
