Anyone know where I can pick up an ECU fo my stealth I dont think Regular auto parts stores carry a part like that do They ?
junkyard or start searching online, your not gonna wanna buy one for full price from somwhere anyways
For 3S’s which are know for leaky capacitors u do, and its real rare to find one of these in the junkyard.
I’m almost afraid to ask. What did you do to it now? What makes you think it’s the ECU?
Well Mine has Become a Bit “TOASTY”
yours isn’t twin turbo tho, atleast those are more common at a junkyard. its worth a shot. but seriously your best bet is probably a forum like www.3si.org
I’m looking for a local pick up cause I need the car and Yeah its N/A but I 've never seen one in the yard. How bout a dodge dealership ?
it doesn’t have to be in the yard tho, i know the junkyards on william keep things in “stock” without having the whole car there too. just call them up and tell them what you need. the worst they can say is no and if they say yes, you have a quick cheap easy fix.
Yeah Ialready Tried marks The dont have any parts for the car, and I dont know Does M&M Stock parts too.
Did this happen when you were trying to jumper various wires troubleshooting your fuel pump issue, or was this the cause of the fuel pump issue?
If it wasn’t some dead short you caused that smoked it I’ve rarely seen a component get charred black simply from it’s own failure. That looks like a pretty serious short occured. If that short still exists and you plug in a new ECU, you’ll have two “well done” ECU’s.
If you decide to give up on local parts, try this place:

You can search their inventory online, and they normally have great prices. I got a very expensive (from the dealer) ABS module for my expedition from them real cheap ($130), and they gave it a warranty.
south buffalo auto on elk st ,had a non turbo stealth there about a month ago try there
Shit, IDK really know these cars are know for leaky capacitors that may have caused it to fry up like that.
Well, if it happened while you were troubleshooting you probably would have seen a spark and smelled the smoke almost the instant you jumpered the wrong wire.
If it wasn’t while you were troubleshooting, you still should have smelled burnt electrical, a very hard to mistake smell, when that went pop.
Personally, when ever I find something that is burnt like that I don’t like to replace it without doing some serious troubleshooting to make sure the short doesn’t still exist. The amount of troubleshooting I’ll normally due is directly related to the cost of the part that was burnt. $5 part, probably just slap another one in an see. $500 part, you bet I’m going to make sure I don’t smoke a second one.
That’s how electronics work. They put that smoke in at the factory, and as soon as you let it out they never seem to work right again
Right, no never sparked anything, and never smelled burnning wire, but if the caps where leaking could it have fried while sitting ?
able on the reservation has one and the ecu is in the glove box i took it off a month ago…its still there
is it a junkyard, and is it a SOHC, If it is there I want it tommorow, so some info would be nice.
yea i had a 91 stealth 5spd SOHC and it tried the ECU, i had to buy a new one which sucked.
Where did ya get it and what did ya have to drop on it ?
Bergen Auto Recycling has a LOT of cars
Sweet fucking Jesus push this car off a cliff. Seriously. Stop now. Part this car out. Cut your losses. Walk away.
Your caps look fine. They’re not even domed, much less leaking. Something shorted. I got 20 bucks that says the problem is outside of the ECU.
