NYY vs Rangers: Game VI

You’re joking, right? You’re talking about a team that had the second best record in the AL, plays in the AL East, and a team that was eliminated from the ALCS. Yet, how many teams that “farm the system” make it to the playoffs 14 out of 15 years? While winning 5 world series rings in the process?

Mets starting ptchers
Johan Santana
Jon Niese
Mike Pelfrey
R.A. Dickey
Jenrry Mejia

2 out of the 5 came from the farm system.

Yanks starting pitchers
CC Sabathia
AJ Burnett
Andy Pettitte
Phil Hughes
Javier Vazquez

2 out of the 5 came from the farm system.

Pettitte who has the most playoff wins in history, the most playoff clinching wins in history and has multiple seasons of 20+ wins.

Phil Hughes was an 18 game winner this year.

Lets discuss closing pitchers now.

Mets - Francisco Rodriguez. He came from where?.. Hint: Not farm the mets farm system
Yankees - Cue Enter Sandman. Need I say more?

Infield
Jeter - Huge contract with the Yankees and well deserved. Drafted by the Yankees.
Jose Reyes - Also homegrown.

Luis Castillo vs Robinson Cano. That comparison is laughable. Cano is going to brankrupt the yankees after he qualifies for free agency. Btw… Castillo is not homegrown, Cano is.

So the Yankees out of the infield have big contract for Tex and Rodriguez complared to Davis and Wright who were both homegrown by the mets. Tex was signed as a FA – one of the best first basemen in the leagues and Arod is well, Arod. Arod was not signed as a FA - Yanks gave up Alfonso Soriano (who was homegrown). Really, Soriano for Arod, do we even need to discuss that?

For the outfield the only huge contract is Granderson – who we gave up Austin Jackson, Ian Kennedy and Phil Coke. Austin Jackson is a very talented young player and so is Kennedy. Both drafted by the Yankees.

Ontop of that, I’m sure you’ve nevr heard of Jesus Montero who is said to be one of the most talented players in the minor leagues right now. He’ll be replacing Posada.

Don’t try acting like the Mets haven’t had their fair share of Free agents either in recent years. Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran, Johan Santana, Mike Piazza, Pedro Martinez. Just to name a few.

Yankees farm system is stacked. Did you also forget the Yanks had Mike Lowell at one point? He was traded because there was no room for him with having Scott Brosius. They traded him as a favor to him because everyone knew he’d get no playing time with Brosius at third base.

List goes on and on. The Yanks develop talent, scout talent, and trade talent. Their farm system has depth. And this is comparing them to the Mets… gimme a break.

The Marlins / Rays / A’s do amazing things with their farm systems. Marlins are a joke – trade away their talent like theirs no tomorrow. Rays dont have the money to keep their awesome players and the A’s just refuse to spend a lot of money.

The Yanks reward their players with huge contracts. Jeter, Mo, Posada, Pettitte. All have lucrative contracts. All from the farm system. Cano will be loaded – came from the farm system. Chamberlain, Hughes – farm system. Mets aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Yanks will be in the playoffs next year. They’ll continue to spend money, continue to develop talent, and continue their success for a very long time.
