That’s exactly what I’m saying. If you’re going to spend that much money, at least get to the WS year in and year out.
Baseball is my least favorite sport of the major 4, but it still amazes me how much they spend and how little meaningful stuff they win (with that payroll, 5 WS in 20 years isn’t all that great). As any sport fan will tell you, regular season hardly means anything come playoff time. I don’t give a shit if they win all the regular season games.
For example. I’m a huge Miami Heat fan. We just signed Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh and some good role players this offseason (completely re-did our team). People are saying, if they gel, they might challenge the 72 win record that the Bulls set. I don’t care about that, but if they don’t make it to the Finals, the season is a disaster. Similar thing with teams like the Yankees and Sox who pay a lot every year. They better be DAMN GOOD. And since they aren’t some years, it just goes to show that buying up all the best talent or spending so much isn’t the definite way to do it when it comes to building teams.
