OFFICIAL: 2008 ELECTION THREAD

I know you are but what am I?!

I hate politics.

Out!

I like that you’re giving him shit for saying 57 states when he meant 57 state contests

soooo this Palin interview I keep seeing clips of tonite…this really happened? i’m not political expert by any means, but someone is in over their head imho

The first one and the 2nd one tonight was painful to watch

So is there going to be a debate tonight? McCain says he’s still not going and also wants to postpone the VP Debate as well.

What a bunch of bullshit, McCain needs to get his wrinkled ass up there.

Explain to me again why these two should be in the White House?

Real simple, it’s right in the article.

“All Gov. Palin is asking for is a fair and impartial review of the facts outside of the taint of partisan politics,” Griffin said. “That’s why she’s cooperating with the Personnel Board.”

So you think they should fully cooperate with a legislative witchhunt, I mean investigation, being run by the very legislature Monegan was was going to to stab Palin in the back? Sounds perfectly unbiased to me.

So you think if a person thinks an investigation is unfair they should just ignore it?

I’ll try that next time I get arrested, I’ll just cry foul and and not show up to court.

If I can’t do it niether should they. They should go through an appealing process if they think its a witchhunt.

JayS just curious…thoughts on that Palin interview?

From what I’ve read, it went poorly. I’ll be honest and say I haven’t actually seen it though.

To be completely honest the last week has really turned me off following politics much at all. With the country facing such a huge financial crisis it’s sickening how partisan the whole thing remains to both politicians and the American people.

In the end the Republicans are going to vote for McCain and the Democrats are going to vote for Obama.

The “undecideds” who are too stupid to ignore all the millions of dollars in ads, mailers, youtube videos, text messages, speeches in front of greek columns at football stadiums, hockey moms, lipstick jokes, and PAC hack jobs will decide the election on all the BS. They are incapable of doing the research on the real issues and where the candidates stand, so they rely on all the aformentioned BS to make their decisions. If they were smart enough to research the issues themselves they wouldn’t be undecided voters to begin with.

Congrats America, those people will pick the next president. Gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling about Democracy doesn’t it?

Wow. My thoughts exactly. Well, other than the convention speech being legit. Throw in the fact that votes only matter in about 10 states, and its pretty sickening.

So The Republicans won’t agree on the bailout?
Maybe mailing Ron Paul stickers to them in their return envelops when they ask for money is paying off.(Yeah, right)
Maybe they listened to Ron Paul school Bernanke on economics.(yeah, right)

It’s a great grand stand to show the people where they stand though.:bloated:

maybe if we send them enough ron paul stickers they’ll throw in a switch to the gold standard :bloated:

^we should be so lucky.

I guess at this point it may be safe to assume that Congress men have millions in banks stocks.

agreed… its really not that hard to just make a decision! although think of all the people who seem to lack even common sense and its really not all that suprising :frowning:

I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with Navarrette on anything, but I’ll agree with him here:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/26/navarrette.obama.mccain/index.html

except he’s completely wrong

Except you’re so partisan you wouldn’t be able to tell.

Joe, if Obama put feces in corn flakes as opposed to McCain’s milk I’m pretty sure the next day you’d be posting about how you never knew how good shit tasted until Obama showed you the light.

Cute, but wrong again.

Look who decided to resume campaigning and is going to the debate…John McCain! (let’s ignore the fact that his campaign never stopped campaigning) Look who created that stupid cabinet room photo op yesterday, John McCain.

NYT "McCain had intended to ride back into Washington on Thursday as a leader who had put aside presidential politics to help broker a solution to the financial crisis. Instead he found himself in the midst of a remarkable partisan showdown, lacking a clear public message for how to bring it to an end. At the bipartisan White House meeting that Mr. McCain had called for a day earlier, he sat silently for more than 40 minutes, more observer than leader, and then offered only a vague sense of where he stood, said people in the meeting.”

"The day began with an agreement that Washington hoped would end the financial crisis that has gripped the nation. It dissolved into a verbal brawl in the Cabinet Room of the White House, urgent warnings from the president and pleas from a Treasury secretary who knelt before the House speaker and appealed for her support.”

The New York Daily News: “John McCain rides in to save day – and makes a mess.”

Clearly in his old age McCain has forgotten that there’s a difference between putting your country first and saying you’re putting your country first. Understandable I suppose since this is the first time he’s been in the senate since April.

So he calls for the meeting hoping everyone would get along, but once everyone started to argue about what should be done, he was silent.

It could have been a perfect time to show the country how much of a bipartisan leader he says he is and instead we see exactley what kind of leader he would be.

In all honesty though, I would like to know more about what Obama said however.
