Official 2009 STPR Pics/Vids Thread

just got back from super special stage #2 good times, people loved the comanche. It was clearly the crowd favorite.

More pics and stories. Today, I rode along with another tracker team, since the car I was originally driving in “sprung” an oil leak thanks to Stage 1 yesterday. I manned the radio to call in various things along the stages that net control might need to know. I also found out I really like being on the radio.

Here we are at the start of the day. Cars were leaving out from the Green and heading to the Stage 4 start.

Car 600, that I had to dq yesterday was back! As I was dq’ing him, the navigator asked if he could buy me a drink after the rally, lol. His driver was 16 years old.

Watching the cars start Stage 4. We were the backup tracker for this stage, so we just waited to make sure the tracker assigned had no issues, and then we headed to Stage 5.

Watching cars launch from Stage 5. This was one of the coolest things of my life. The scenery was amazing, the cars were amazing, even the smell was amazing (lots of brake smell, lol)

Wait… what’s this? I do believe that car is upside down… I didn’t get the complete story, but what we were told was that another car attempted a pass, and somehow made contact with this vehicle, which caused it to somehow flip. I don’t really understand that, but I’m sure I don’t have all the information.

Spectating Stage 7, Jim & Lee

And there they go by…

At this point the battery in my phone started dying, and I needed to save some power. We ran several more stages and then met back at the fairground for Super Stage 13. Here’s Jim & Lee lining up for that.

There were some awesome photos taken of the guys during their Super Stage run, I’ll leave that for other people to post

We saw lots of cars off, heard about one car that caught fire (and was put out by the driver/co-driver), saw one car that went nose first into a stream, and saw several that had gone into trees pretty brutally. Out of a 40 car start, we ended with 24 vehicles that were not disqualified either for mechanical failure, too extensive damage to continue, or running over the alloted time for a stage.

First off, I’d like to thank my sponsors, Swerve Motorsports, PSI Supply, Quaker State and Exedy. Too bad we overheated on the second last stage and dnf’d due to max time. Thankfully, they let us run the super special! I wanted more air of the jump, but the motor was about the fall out of the truck. I had a friggin’ blast, and we’ll rebuild it to be better for the next event. I just can’t believe how much people loved that truck. People were asking for my autograph

you were in PA, and driving a pickup truck, of COURSE they loved it!

edit: also glad to see that mitsu still rally’s like they always have, the newer the EVO the less likelihood it’s gunna make it through the whole rally. We talked (well sort of talked since we were rather deep in the cooler by then), to l’estage and richard when they got back to the lodge they were pretty bummed about not getting to finish the SSS… I asked if he was ready to go back to hyundai and he said that he would have killed to have that car back but his new sponsors weren’t exactly on board :stuck_out_tongue:

I am sooooooooo jealous of that entire event.

Good times.

As you should be!

This year was very sparse on people sadly :frowning: I hope it happens next year.

Very cool! Lee was telling me about this on the phone when I was on my way to get the Volvo in PA.

Here the in car footage from SSS13, the last stage of the day. The motor was overheating and beat, the suspension was completely useless, and I was exhausted.

So thats what the back half of the course looked like. Nice

I threw together some in car footage from the whole event. I know my skills as a video editor suck, but my brain turned to mush going through the hours of video I had.
