*OFFICIAL* Duff's Cruise Night 2009

im actually in southtowns now and its sunny and blue sky here, so ill prob head up there for a bit

im thinking about it we’ll see. the weather here is gorgeous and im only a 5 min drive away

Will not be in attendance.

^ this guy had had a GTO experience today!

lol yes i did, i posted it in the callout thread

Not tonight, I have too much yard work to do after work today.

ok turnout i guess but best part was the 69 mustang that had a huge blower on it pulls in and he shuts the engine off and a radiator line must have fell off cuz it started smoking and collant was pouring out everywhere… way to make a grand entrance!

Today will be the last one they have this year.

Why are they stopping?

I heard because they can’t serve alcohol outside. I guess there only allowed to serve alcohol outside for 3 events …Stupid if you ask me.

lol lets shut down things that attract people and make money

I would imagine they don’t make money if they are shutting it down due to alcohol sales.

Last night 7/20 was the last one. They were handing out little slips of paper that explain what happened. Apparently the town of OP won’t write a letter that Duffs needs for the liquor authority to be able to serve alcohol outside for more than 4 events. The note also says
“If you are as upset as we are about losing Duffs Cruise Night this year, call the town of Orchard Park to make them aware of your feelings.
662-6400
Supervisor-Mary Murphy
Town Board-Nan Ackerman
Town Board-Dave Kaczor
Town Board-Mark Dietrick
Town Board-Edward J. Graber”

I’m definitely placing a phone call, everyone else that attends these cruises should call as well. I don’t get why they won’t help out a local business. Hell, we even bought gas/munchies at Delta Sonic last night too. to the town of OP.

Can they do it without serving alcohol…outside?

ARE YOU KIDDING WHO WOULD GO TO AN AUTOMOTIVE EVENT IF YOU CAN’T DRINK.

STUPID.

^^^ Hahahaha

I know, I thought the same thing, but I can see the attendance and their profit getting epically hurt if there’s no beer outside.

just texted the owner… true as noted.

I asked him why not just run it without alcohol. He said “Last time we didn’t have a liquor license no one showed”

What does it cost them to do it? It can’t be much…

they have a DJ, Prizes, the liquor license is a charge by event, and added work crew to run it outside. He said without the liquor license, it costs about $500 per event, but nobody really buys food so they lose money on the event.
