«OFFICIAL» PittSpeed vs. NYSpeed 1/4 Mile Drags! May 29th *Results Post #389*

John (Whitey) and I are in the process of planning a PittSpeed vs. NYSpeed drag event for early summer 2011. Here are the details so far:

Date: May 29th, 2011
Time: Noon to “Whenever we’re done”
Location: Lucky Drag City - 1hr 30min from Buffalo, 2hrs from Pittsburgh
Cost: $20 to race, $10 to watch, paid at the gate. $15 from the racers entrance fee will go into a pot for a cash payout.

Let me post it again, that’s only $20 to race your car from noon until we call it quits.

Classing & payout will be very simple: The fastest AWD, FWD & RWD cars will split the pot in 3rds. Also they’ll get trophy plaques (see picture below.)

Registration page is active! (click the marketplace tab in the navbar)

If you plan on joining us for this event, please use the ‘Marketplace’ tab (next to ‘What’s New’) above and register for our headcount. Once registered your username will appear in the first post and on our list. Our registration is NOT payment for the event. Payment will be AT THE GATE.

Registered users using this system is how we’ll determine our classing / cash payouts.

Make your callouts >>HERE<< in the callout thread.

John and I visited this track a few weeks ago because it almost seemed too go to be true; a 1/4 mile track that’s a reasonable distance from both user bases. Turns out it’s perfect for what we want to do. We spoke with the owner and got the ball rolling

Here are some pics I took from the track, followed by some I’ve found on the web:

Now it’s obvious this track isn’t “on the map” as most of us have never heard of it, but it’s a proper venue for some serious heaters. The track does drop slightly after the 1/8th into an uphill shutdown… so no, you’re not seeing things, lol.

As we plan things John or I will update this thread. But this should be sufficient notice for you guys to get in gear over the winter

sweet god i wish this place had a road course

more than likely in…for watching if i have my daughter that day

I always say I will try to attend so I will say it again… Been plagued with problems in the past so who knows if I can do it. I have to do some inspections to the car this winter to make sure its up and running and may be changing the setup alittle so we shall see…and if i’m home i’ll try to make this event…that will depend on when it is held.

Blo has this on lock. Josh are we going to do unlimited cars, index, whats up? Deff should be a few classes. Im taking manual trans jusssss sayin.

John has run several races in the past and has some good ideas of what we can do. I’ll let him fill in

the turnaround/slowdown area on this track is REALLY sketchy

Yeah the track is very “raw” but it’s still safer than the street.

truth
everyone who works there is really nice as well, and there’s 50/50 raffles and a bunch of cheap good food

I would be in for this.

I can not wait for this. Blo ftw.

That is the most home grown track I have ever seen. On the bright side I bet everyone runs fast times since it seems to go downhill.

the shutdown area doesnt look too bad?

According to their site it’s the oldest, still operating drag strip in the world. Built in 1955.

im down as well as bringing a few friends. Should be a good time to meet everyone on the forums

I’ll be there with two full bottles…

Most likely in.

I’ll be there with the video camera.

For the NA guys (like me) that pay close attention to the density altitude, this particular track is 684 feet above sea level which is so-so. For comparison sake:

Dunn Tire: 583 feet
Empire: 910 feet
Lucky City: 684
ESTA (syracuse area): 398

Our home track is 1110 feet, this will be good. lol.

In as long as its not June 11th or 25th-26th
