i have a d16y7 i want to rebuild to run boost motor had spun rod bearings in cylinder 1 and 4. from previous owner running boost rod bearings say .025 so im assuming rod journals were turned. correct me if im wrong. all journals on crank feel smooth but to be safe i think i should get a crank. what would be the best crank to run? z6? y7 and so on? and if so maybe you can hook a brotha up lol let the intel roll
i decided on y7 y8 crankshaft single port on such a short stroke motor. but the key would be chamfered ports. and port oil pump and maybe do something with oil pump relief valve to push more oil pressure if any way possible
guess noone has single stick input lol
havent messed with the dirty d in a few years, but i think you need a d16y crank in a y block, something to do with the oil pump differences. within that info, i want to say that all the d16y cranks are the same.
honda really dropped the ball with the d16y engine spinning bearings and shit oil pumps. my old 2000ex had a spun rod bearing with only 141k miles. the car was owned by a middle aged woman too before i bought it
mine spun bearing under 10psi turbo boost. and after a bad headgasket to by previous owner but under that abuse for a year bearing spun on him a month after he did headgasket. origanal motor 108k.
