d16y7 rebuild questions

this winter I would like to rip my d16y7 out of my civic and rebuild it with new rods and pistons and clean it out. what sugestions would u have on type of rods and pistons and what ratio should I go for if I would wanna later on boost it?

whats your budget and power goals? tuner toys makes good budget rods, or eagle makes great rods. i use srp pistons, but any company like srp, je, mahle youd be fine with.

well im not looking to make a tire lifting car just something to hold up when boosted. basicaly take stock out and put something new in

you should look into fjt vitara/ custom rod set up…last i checked it was about $475 shipped with the rod piston and acl bearings…they have been making many set ups in the 400whp+ range with these

I run eagle cp combo and it hasnt failed me yet. And id say go like 9.5 for boost.

This isn’t a bad set up. I had it in my old hatch, but if I did it again, I would use the SRP pistons on Eagle rods. They will handle any power you can make on a stock D series block.

Swap to a Z6 head, and stay away from the Y8… the quench pads are too large. With the boosted setups I tuned I found that the Y8 head hated timing when it was being rev’d, and would detonate. A Z6 head on the same setup would always make more power, and be less finicky.

i actually just did the vitara build on my y7 and used a z6 head that was rebuilt also.If you have any questions let me know. Also my buddy has everything you would need to build the motor brand new in box.he also has a z6 head that has been ported and polished. He is asking 850 for tuner toys rods, vitara pistons with rings, acl bearings,z6 head, intercooler, ssqv bov, tapped z6 oil pan
