Basically someone(they’re currently blaming China) hacked OPM and potentially stole data going back to 1985.
OPM handles all the security clearance and background checks for secret/top secret

yeah that’s a SHITLOAD of PII in those files. The ability to perform social engineering, guess passwords, ID Fraud, etc… are all through the roof on this one… sigh
Can’t wait to see how strongly worded the statement telling China to stop stealing our stuff will be this time. Maybe we’ll really show some backbone and use all caps.
They haven’t sent anything as of today yet, I am sure they will later today or early next week letting all of us know. You would think they would put together an email as soon as they heard about the breach and sent it to all of the agencies.
They sent an email defining the departments that were hacked. MY brother is in HHS and he said they told him that their department was identified. I don’t know if they have identified all specific targets. They say that they will be sending emails and letters the 8th through the 16th.
