Pandora - the music Genome project.

Have you guys heard of this?

It’s a revolutionary online radio, which always opens as one of my tabs every start I start up Fire Fox and just plays music.

Very neat, since it “learns” what music you like and only plays that music from a “station” you preset.

You can find a ton of new artists and hear songs you haven’t heard in ages.

About Pandora®

When was the last time you fell in love with a new artist or song?

At Pandora, we have a single mission: To play music you’ll love - and nothing else.

To understand just how we do this, and why we think we do it really, really well, you need to know about the Music Genome Project®.

Since we started back in 2000, we have been hard at work on the Music Genome Project. It’s the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken. Together our team of fifty musician-analysts has been listening to music, one song at a time, studying and collecting literally hundreds of musical details on every song. It takes 20-30 minutes per song to capture all of the little details that give each recording its magical sound - melody, harmony, instrumentation, rhythm, vocals, lyrics … and more - close to 400 attributes! We continue this work every day to keep up with the incredible flow of great new music coming from studios, stadiums and garages around the country.

With Pandora you can explore this vast trove of music to your heart’s content. Just drop the name of one of your favorite songs or artists into Pandora and let the Genome Project go. It will quickly scan its entire world of analyzed music, almost a century of popular recordings - new and old, well known and completely obscure - to find songs with interesting musical similarities to your choice. Then sit back and enjoy as it creates a listening experience full of current and soon-to-be favorite songs for you.

You can create as many “stations” as you want. And you can even refine them. If it’s not quite right you can tell it so and it will get better for you.

The Music Genome Project was founded by musicians and music-lovers. We believe in the value of music and have a profound respect for those who create it. We like all kinds of music, from the most obtuse bebop, to the most tripped-out drum n bass, to the simplest catchy pop tune. Our mission is to help you connect with the music YOU like.

We hope you enjoy the experience!

It’s pretty cool. I use it at work a lot, I just set it to one of my presets and it plays nothing but good music for hours on end.

ive been using pandora for about 2 years now

\

I’ve been using it about the same time, its pretty cool, hardly plays songs I don’t like anymore ;D

my journey station is off the hook… 1800 thumbs up songs and 4700 thumbs down songs

i listen to it a lot

99% of the shit is blocked here, but ill give it a try

awesome site, I’ve been usin it for a while too

and its blocked like a cock at a bar

it worked earlier this morning for me, but now it’s blocked :lol

haha sounds like someone has a network nazi thats paying to much attention to what people are going to

I use pandora all the time. Its great at work, put on whatever I’m in the mood for and work away. Deff makes the day go by faster. Its good when you have people over too. I just ask what kind of music people like, open up pandora, make a station and away we go.

i use it on my i-phone when doing shit its great and fun to listen to new stuff

ive been on there for a couple years, i love it

Yeah it is a pretty sick setup, it came on my new laptop and ive been using it ever since…

There is a down-loadable version?

idk to be honest with ya, it came installed on mine when i bought it, i was like wtf is this?! Im actually listening to it right now :lol

bump because I just started using this, any way around the limit for skipping songs?

Doubt it, software seems pretty solid. Eventually you will eliminate enough songs to have your play list solid as it “learns” what you like.

Anybody know if there is a software for phones with internet connected (such as an iPhone) that would allow you to listen to Pandora while on the move?

The would be the ultimate portable music player. :open_mouth:

No there isnt that i know of. They only allow you to skip a certain ammount of songs an hour…kinda gay

Find pandoras box

cool program, leave that shit running and it downloads all the songs into mp3’s as they play and catagorizes them for you…
